And I believe a massive upturn in goals from corners, which we definitely haven’t reciprocated. Not sure about conceding from corners?

I thought Southampton were pretty much doomed before he got the gig?

I think a massive weakness with our team is

    Heading goals
    Especially in the champ

    We are woeful at it

I think Jones has had a few good chances but either straight at the keeper or off target

That’s quite decent compared with the current squad.

We've somehow recruited a whole squad that has scored about 5 goals between them in their whole career

    Sooo....

We can't score from outside the box.

    We can't score from corners.

    We can't score from headers.

We can't score from free kicks.

    Our defenders can't score.

    We don't get penalties.

Chuck in the fact that we never put in any decent crosses and there's no wonder we're staring down the barrel of relegation.

when my young un is with me, her attention drifts off as you would expect, so whenver we get within 30 yards of goals i make her watch and say look we might score here.
she keeps giving me a frustrated look as to say why do you keep saying that when nothing happens, starting to make me question my sanity as shes got a point <laugh>

If that's correct (no reason to doubt) it's shocking. Of course their main job is stopping the opposition, but still.for both of them to be so low is poor.

Yea, you've either got the balls to try the shot or you haven't.

I do miss a goal scoring defender, back in the day Leon Cort won me loads of money from the Bookies

Whenever my dad watches City, he always says ‘Why don’t they shoot from distance more? Even if it’s not a perfect shot, a deflection could take it anywhere’. I kind of agree with him.

I know some aren’t a fan of xG and think it’s all bollocks but it’s actually a really simple stat to understand. If a shot has an xG of 0.47, then it means that if you were to take that exact shot in the same position under the same circumstances 100 times, you would score 47 times out of 100. That’s all it is.

City under Walter underperformed their xG if I remember correctly and that’s consistent with the eye test of watching games. We squandered loads of chances. Our finishing was so poor. Slater has missed about 6 sitters. I wonder what his xG is this season compared to the number of goals he’s actually scored. Gets into great positions then just flubs the shot.

That’s not what xG is. Of the last 100 shots taken from that part of the pitch with that foot (or head), it measures how many of those efforts went in (in your example, 47). It says nothing about the player taking the chance and everything about the players who have previously taken that chance.

totally agree, we never score with headers direct from corners, never score from headers direct from free kicks & when we do have a striker who can score with his head (Oscar) we loan him out & then get rid of him, Rosenior more interested in City trying to walk the ball into the net!!
All teams score from crosses into the box except Hull City
(how many do Haarland & Jota score with their head?)
What do they do in training every day, as it’s not really working
The table doesn’t lie & unless City start scoring some goals by any means possible they could well be playing Div1 football in August
