CHRIS SUTTON'S PREDICTION 2:0 HOME WIN. Anfield, 19:45 BST Liverpool have had a break since going out of the Champions League and losing the Carabao Cup final, and I don't think we will see them wobble here. Quite the opposite in fact, now their focus is just on the Premier League. The Reds also felt wronged by Everton's late equaliser at Goodison Park in February so there will be all of that bubbling under, and Arne Slot's side will feel they have a point to prove. They are going to put Everton under all sorts of pressure, but the Toffees will be well organised defensively and have an eye on a counter-attack too. Everton boss David Moyes has transformed a team that was lacking belief, and he would love nothing more than to go to Anfield and get something. I am expecting a typical derby, in that I would not be surprised if this is another emotional game as well as an explosive one, with maybe a couple of players losing their heads. There will be plenty of drama along the way, but I am pretty sure Liverpool will be back to their best form and end up taking the three points. Sutton's prediction: 2-0 Liam's prediction: There might be a bit of tension from the Liverpool fans off the back of their two massive defeats and with the rumours about Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk both leaving. I think Arne Slot has still got everything under control in terms of them winning the Premier League, but if there is any kind of hangover from losing at Wembley and going out of Europe, it will help us. So, obviously being the optimistic Everton fan that I am, I am going to go for the same result we got at Goodison. The form we have been in lately, I think Moyes will have us right up for it and believing we can get something. What was hilarious about our 2-2 draw in February is that I was one of many fans who had left the ground during stoppage time. I was walking down Goodison Road and next minute it was like there was an eruption. There were people running down the street to see what had happened - we all ran down to the Royal Oak pub which is on the corner, and looked through the windows to find out Tarkowski had scored. It was incredible! 1-1 JONES KNOWS BEST HAS GONE FOR HOME WIN TOO. 3: 0 Liverpool vs Everton, Wednesday 8pm, live on Sky Sports - PLAY SUPER 6 HERE! please log in to view this image Got Sky? Anyone tempted to read too much into the Carabao Cup final defeat and take them on here may want to remind themselves that Liverpool are currently on a 25 Premier League game unbeaten run - only once have they had a longer unbeaten run in the competition. Only PSG are currently on a longer unbeaten league run than Liverpool in Europe's major leagues. Fatigue may be a factor with Liverpool playing their 20 games so far in 2025 across a 71-day spell - averaging a game every 3.6 days. The break should revitalise them and this could be a bad time for Everton to head across Stanley Park. Liverpool have scored two or more goals in 13 of their 14 home Premier League game this season making the Liverpool -1 on the handicap the way to play to this at Evens with Sky Bet. Slot has confirmed all the injury news. I expect Bradley to be on the bench for a 15minite cameo. Alisson Quansah konate vvd Robertson Gravenberch macallister Salah Szoboszlai gakpo Diaz. Probably will be jota not Diaz but we will see. Need to figure that 9 role out and someone needs some form. It'll be made a battle and a lot of the refs assigned are now lower league standard and have no exposure to europe so they end up reffing like it's milwall and let Everton away with murder. The crowd must get on that refs back from minute 1. Zero tolerance of giving Everton free hits. Absolutely hammer ever call until he gets them right. Oh and dacoure needs levelling and I mean levelling.
Everton possible line up Pickford O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite Mykolenko harrisson Garner, dacoure Gueye, alcaraz Beto If Everton drop to 451 then vvd and konate will have the run of the park. It's all about at least have 2 up to stand in front of our cbs. In this case quansah and Robertson need to stay a bit wider and bring salah and gakpo into play with ball down the line. It's bloody congested enough with 5 man midfield than to have those two in there on top of gravenberch and macalliater also.
The team owes the fans a good performance tonight. The PSG game was a disappointment but the Carabou cup final performance was dreadful. Everton will have seen how Newcastle made the final a physical battle, how set pieces were poor for us and if we don’t get a decent referee, I expect trouble
It really not rocket science to pick apart a zonal marking system. Which team last year put about 6 players way past the far stick against us? Forest? All burns did was go outside thr zones and stay there and nod it back in. You cannot have a midget marking tarkowski tonight. Everton have a massive lad at rb, they have brainthwaite and they have tarkowski. If we give them set plays to hit their guys from and just try to play zonally we will be in trouble. I don't mind having frees, you don't zonal mark off a free. It's the stupidity at corners that's the issue. If I were slot I'd reline the pitch so there's zero run up to stop them putting it in I'd rather we let them cross in this instance then block a cross put for a corner. Just mark beto ffs. No corners conceded and keep them down in their half all game. Pin them in and running them and just screaming at any contact. (Watch them time waste and dive until we take the lead)
TEAM NEWS ! Liverpool lineup vs. Everton confirmed: Kelleher starts and Jones at right-back April 2, 2025 The long wait is over and Arne Slot has named Curtis Jones in the starting lineup as Liverpool face Everton at Anfield with the aim of restoring the 12-point gap. Liverpool have had long enough to stew over their last two results, now it is time to look ahead in the Premier League and the Merseyside derby offers a chance to move closer to the title. There were a number of final fitness tests needed on the eve of the match and Alisson has not been passed fit after suffering a concussion with Brazil, leaving Caoimhin Kelleher to start. Watch Liverpool vs. Everton – Live Online Streams Curtis Jones will line up at right-back in place of Jarell Quansah, with Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson making up the rest of the defence. In midfield the trusted trio of Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister all start together once more. Finally, Mohamed Salah is joined in attack by Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota. As for the bench, Harvey Elliott, Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo are among the options Slot has at his disposal at Anfield this evening. Liverpool: Kelleher; Jones, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Mac Allister; Salah, Diaz, Jota Substitutes: Jaros, Quansah, Tsimikas, Endo, McConnell, Elliott, Gakpo, Chiesa,
What's happened to Ally? That concusion on Brazil duties? We could play 3-4-3, I suppose. Can't see Jones pulling off 90 mins at RB - he's slower than Trent.
Interesting line up. I guess the idea being we’ll dominate the ball so jones coming inside from rb on the ball is more useful. Surprised Ali isn’t available. Need to win this before a tough away game on Sunday.
I don't mind Jones there if he bothers his arse to do the actual job. Kelleher is a body blow. He's useless under pressure in the air so Everton will target him.
I can’t believe this line up. Diaz and Jota have been rubbish for the last two games and surely a defender would be better at RB. Not sure what Slot is thinking
We need to get Salah involved in the game basically, and Quansah at RB doesn’t do that (not his fault, just saying I understand the change). Hopefully it pays off, get the added bonus of having a scouser on the pitch as well and I expect Jones to be laser focused as it’s not his normal job
