Would he really have made that much difference? If we were in his shoes, would we have rushed back from injury to be tainted with those performances. At least he can say “ Nowt to do with me Guv, never at the scene of the crimes”.
I must admit that Ross Stewart was probably kicking himself from the sidelines knowing that he would have been better leading the line thus season. I would not be surprised if he was moved on in the summer. Too much of a liability through injuries.
I'm the complete opposite; I'd be amazed if he was moved on. Whose going to want to take the risk signing him? He's not going to want to lose the last year of his contract either.
I think we will sale whilst he still has some value. Where i concur is that he will be a risky signing. I would expect him going to a smaller club. If anyone offers anything, we will take it. I think we should play him and put him in the shop window. Difficult not to feel sorry for him. Not been a good move for him either.
He’ll be earning more now than he ever has done in his career before and would be taking a big pay cut if he leaves now. Would be stupid of him to leave with only a year left and give that up. He will stay and hope he gets fit to play a part for us next season, to either earn another deal with us or something more lucrative elsewhere. When he was fit at Sunderland he scored some goals in the Championship so he’ll hope to do that again with us.
That’s a possibility, I just don’t see there being much interest at all in him due to his injury record unless it is exceptionally good financially for the buying club. If he stays fit he has scored goals at this level before and we should be a strong team in the league next year which would appeal to any striker. Question is if we have 4 other strikers to play ahead of him so even if he is fit he won’t see the pitch anyway.
I would potentially much lower down the pyramid. Whether he'd be interested in that is another matter. More likely though he's here next season and is injured the majority of it.
Yeah probably not much difference but if he’d had a good Championship season, he might have been a reasonable focal point this season. Still all bollocks really because he didn’t.
I'd be astounded if Stewart makes it out of purgatory before his contract is up. He'll continue to exist somewhere between the medical room, the gym, our imaginations, and the training pitches with a very occasional flirtation with the U21s. Purgatory will only end with his contract next summer, and then I imagine he'll decide to retire because he'll have been out injured for the best part of 4 years!? Not sure why you'd try to continue after that. Sure he'll be on a free, but hard to see any club picking him up, he won't get on the pitch so you're essentially paying his wages and medical bills as a charity. Tough on him, but on the bright side he's been getting paid very well whilst in this situation so it could be worse.
In other sports a serious injury means the end of your earning potential. You have to go back to your day job or diversify. Luckily he’s a footballer, we will have paid him £3m by the time his contracts up. Yes three million.
He would definitely get a club after Saints. It would be league 1 or 2, and wages would probably heavily weighted towards appearence fees.
