Large John didn't go to the police to 'protect the good name' of Celtic who are now nursing a 7 figure pay out.

All he had to do was phone the police and then your club wouldn't have been dragged through the courts and papers for 20+ years.

The ***** name of Celtic is known throughout the footballing world.

Accept it for what it is and embrace it.

Anybody who is aware of any kind of abuse of kids or adults , should call the police .

Based on today’s society , there is no excuse .

Back in the 60s/70s ,even the 80s , child abuse was seen as a Pandora’s box (this also applies to rape). Society’s approach back then was to ignore or try to move on - hence why sexual predators like Torbett etc where ‘allowed ‘ to get away with their crimes . See also Saville, Harris , Glitter et al. Probably applies to the 90s as well tbf

Everyone who knew , this includes figures like Stein, should have called the police but that was not the norm back then .

This is not to excuse but to explain. We can’t fathom now why anyone would ‘ignore’ or not call the police.
