    Match preview;
After Saturday's disappointing defeat to Stoke, where we didn't start with an out and out striker on the field :emoticon-0138-think, we are now looking over our shoulders. We've lost five and drawn one in our last six, and are now only seven points above the drop zone, and only three points above 19th. With Field, Celer, Chair, Jake Clarke-Salter, Frey and Kolli all out (and a few others)...the squad is looking pretty thin and options are very limited. I'll just be hoping we get enough points to go into the last three or four games with nothing to worry about, but that is far from guaranteed.

On a positive note, we aren't in Cardiff's position! They have lost four and drawn one in their last five, and currently sit 21st, so one place and two points above the relegation zone. Their top scorer is Callum Robinson with 12 goals so far this season. Since their year in Premiership (2017/18), they have gradually finished lower in the table, other than last year, finishing 5th, 8th, 18th, 21st then 12th. This year isn't looking good so far though, and they sacked their manager, Erol Bulut, in December and replaced him with Omer Riza. Riza was bought onto the coaching staff by Bulut in June. This led to a rather bizarre interview with Bulut in which he said he felt betrayed (https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/sacked-cardiff-city-boss-erol-31299764). Kind of get it, kind of feel he needs to accept football has become a bit of a cut throat business these days. Discuss.

Team news and manager comments to go up asap, enjoy if you'll make it to HQ, and as always...

    ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

With Derby playing Preston on Wednesday, buffer may be down to five come Saturday with Cardiff the team taking the last place in the drop zone. Not a 'must win' but defo a 'must not lose'!

Yup. When you look at our previous 7 or 8 games and think about the possibilty of picking up any/many points in the games that come after, a game against Cardiff, at home, is potentially our best chance of picking up a win and 3 much needed points.

    Must win.

Looking at Saturday's fixtures, and Derby v Preston on Wednesday, our game with Cardiff is an opportunity to move towards safety.

Of course Cardiff will be thinking the same!

With our current form we need two wins from our next two games as our run in after that looks difficult. I'm beginning to think Marti's time might be up even if we do survive as performances have been regularly poor...

Listening to Marti's interview after the Stoke game, he said that Cardiff was possibly the most important game of his tenure so far. Sounds a bit extreme but glad that he's viewing it in this way as this might help the players appreciate the same. I just feel that the players felt that the job was done and maybe Marti can drill it into them that we still need at least one win, if not two, to survive the drop. I agree with Hoop that this is potentially our best chance of picking up a win.

We are coming to the point where i think this is a must-win.

Looks like we could be without a recognised striker again on Saturday due to ongoing injuries......

    Deep joy.......:emoticon-0101-sadsm

Is there no emergency clause in Kelmans contract that enables us to recall him if in dire need of a striker?

Do we have no development squad forward available to try out for 1 game?

A must win game without a striker, not ideal. Any of our injured mob back for this one?

Where's Brett Angell when you need him? Do we have a reliable replacement for Dunne at full back as he at least would be comfortable up front as the big target man. No team has ever been successful with out any forwards at all.

AC Milan won the Scudetto in 1978/9 playing a winger (we have plenty of those) as the only forward. He only scored one goal from open play all season but they won the league.

I seem to remember that Spain barely played a forward, even though they had Torres, when they won the World Cup in South Africa. Fabregas started up front.

Of course you have to have goalscoring midfielders for this to work.
