Off Topic Marine Le Pen banned from running for office for 5 years

She was apparently favourite for the 2027 elections. It could trigger anti-democracy protest in France. Well, they like a good protest.

Jailed for 4 years as well for embezzlement, though that isn't seen as the worst part of the ruling.

 

Are people in jail allowed to stand for office in France or am I missing something here?

 

Good result, Having a major player on the world stage with extreme right wing views in Europe would be a disaster... Would encourage The German AFD party as well.... Smacks of something the state has done to keep her out.... as anti democratic as it appears, for me its for the greater good
