Under selles our form is top 10. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that could improve next season.
13th actually, equal on points with boro and Millwall with a better goal difference, but also having played a game more. Quite a bit better than I would have thought admittedly.
Apologies, it was top 10 prior to this weekend. A distinction without a massive difference. Let's see where it lands come season end, but the point remains that under Selles we're not in for another relegation battle next season if the form just maintains it's current trend, much less if there's a natural improvement over the summer (which you would expect with a relatively young squad and players returning from injury).
Not that young though. He'll be 24 this summer, and with 172 senior games under his belt at L1 and Championship level (21 Championship). Delap was a month off 20 when he joined Preston for half a season. He's only just turned 22 a month ago. I hope he comes good, but so far I just don't see it. I don't see what he is and what his strengths are ... other than apparently a good attitude, a nice guy and runs a lot (I am / could do those things #no,really).
yea he cant even be compared to delap at all and of course you cant write off a £2m+ signing so early, but compare his all round game to pedros and its miles behind, and im not even talking about goals deserves the chance to prove himself though, but id be very surprised if he does he just looks very technically limited and seems to need an extra half a second or touch to do anything with the ball that you dont get at this level
Do we? Really? Morris caused us a few problems particularly in the air because he's a massive unit, but he had a number of chances and looked like you could give him an armful of banjos and he's still miss a cow's arse. Adebayo did hit the post, and Luton fans said that was the first time he's cleanly struck a shot all season.
Yeah. Not a knock on Joseph overall but we didn’t match Luton’s physicality all game. It got to the point where the instruction clearly was to let Morris and Adebayo win the first ball and we would try battle for the second. I think Joseph comes good at some point but him as a lone striker against their backline just wasn’t going to work
that's the responsibility of the captain - unfortunately our captain might give 100% but I never see him leading the team or taking charge or commanding the field - he's not a captain - we really need to find someone who can do that job
If we survive this season - another large squad rebuild, which I've seen mentioned on here, would be the thing that sends us down next season. We need to stick with what we've got for the most part and give it time, adding key recruits. Most of our signings have struck me as being good signings, but many of them are either young and developing, or injured, or banned. I personally really can't be ****ed with another summer of nothing incoming, watching players leave one by one until we suddenly buy a whole new team on deadline day and just expect them to all hit the ground running. Stay up, start next season afresh with a couple of quality additions for problem areas - a stable squad will perform so, so much better next season.
When you look at the season overall, injuries which every club gets, but ours have mainly all been long term, Having Wally for to long caused further problems. The January transfer window is always difficult to bring in players, the best one I thought was Matazo who unfortunately we lost. We’ve had some great results away at times but equally appalling at home. Why I don’t know. Now after losing on Saturday we are right in the mix for bottom three. Not only the fact because we got beat against a team below us but both Luton and Derby over the last three games have picked up 7 and 9 points. I can definitely see at least one of them getting out of it. It’s still down to us ( having Pedro back should hopefully help) but it really is looking like it’s going to go right to the end and for me it’s so hard to predict.
If we stay up it is hard to say anything about next season until we see the additions . Like others have mentioned , hopefully not a complete overhaul Just a few clever additions , but In the championship that can make a massive difference . Just finding a striker that can score 15 goals could be worth an extra 10 points or so on its own . There isn’t that huge gulf there is in the premier league, 2 or 3 good players can make the world of difference to a season
I agree 2 or 3 players very good players can make a huge difference and with injuries back then straight away you could 6/7 different players in the team to what it is now. Mind you after saying that we have to get through this season and stay up first.
Our form Ernie is to unpredictable and unfortunately you just don’t know what you are going to get. Our recent form as being decent for a club near the bottom but unfortunately every time we seem to get that chance to pull away we don’t do it. For that reason i haven’t got a clue if we will stay up or not.
our form over the last 5 is decent please log in to view this image just derby and luton have decent form too which is why we're not pulling away yet leeds usual spring bottlejob is starting well
