Great to see him getting more recognition - at least on here. I've always liked him , a player who has always seemed really pleased to be playing for us and to have the chance of playing at this level. And yes he does seem to be playing better since NP left!!
on the radio he admitted he knew his 1st touch wasnt good enough, and he has been working hard in training to improve it..which i thought fair play to him for that.. definately improving tho, still think we need a better finisher up with fryatt to be serious promotion contenders tho, it was a fookin awful shot, and just lucky boaz is still a tiger!
Agree with this, you cannot fault Aaron's effort but if/when we bring a new striker in I think he will be very effective coming off the bench when defenders are tiring
I love Mclean, not technically great but he is 150percent committment, like a much better Fagan with a good attitude, I agree he might lose his place if a new striker comes but when he plays we do well usually
Unfortunately this is the case with a lot of players. Zayatte, Garcia, Gulacsi, McLean... I've noticed McLean's touch has been a lot better in the last two games, he's brought a couple of balls down from the sky very impressively, so it doesn't surprise me that he said he has been working on it.
Actually i think the opposite. Once Mclean has run the defence ragged for an hour or so thats the time to bring on the new striker. whoever it maybe ? Macheda wont be leaving MU anytime soon. With Chico - Berbatov and Owen still out injured MU need all the strikers they can muster up.
His attitude and effort seems to be second to none, which you cannot fault and because of this he is a very important player for us! However, for us to go from potential play off contenders to play off winners, we need quality
I was pleasantly suprised by McLeans improved touch the last couple of games, the first touch control he made on Saturday from Dawsons long swerving pass was graceful, before handing it off to Rosenior and he layed off Koren for that peach of a goal. Watch it again. Just a couple of months ago I think we'd have been lucky if McLeans attempt to control that pass didn't end up at the other side of the pitch at best. And last nights first touch volleyed pass all the way out to Stewart at the other side was nothign short of spectacular. He's steadily improving now and getting confidence in himself, we're definitely seeing a new and much improved player at present.
I agree, he is improving, no doubt and it is no coincidence that all our attacking players have a new lease of life since NB has been in charge. However, how many of you saying McLean is a definite starter are also stating we need a new striker? Does that mean you would drop Fryatt?
Personally wouldn't want to drop either of them. If we sign a new striker we'll have to adapt our formation as we can't drop Fryatt, unless we sign someone who can be pushed out to the wing and drop McLean.
whichever strikers are signed up in jan will have to wait and bide there time. but competition is always healthy especially in a promotion push.
Agree with Bob completely here. The striker(s) are doing well. We need a new one(s) because Waggy, Simpson and Barmbyare out of the picture and we're left with only 2 strikers and one part-timer, so we definitely need another one for numbers if nothing else. NB won't be stupid enough to sign someone who isn't good enough to make the team, but at the same time it's not a complete overhaul needed like this time last year.
His technic has improved. His cross field ball was class, as a joke someone behind me shouted "it was a shot" The little bit of imoprovised skill with his back to goal was also very good, although less talked about the outcome the better. He deserved his goal, he's ran himself into the ground and his work rate is fantastic. He was a bit stupid when he raised his arms after their defender dragged him down and could have walked for it. Good to hear he knew he was in the wrong afterwards though. He came across well spoken and a bit of a character.
