You’re busting your gut for us to fail ain’t you. Just so you can say progress, front foot football should have stuck with Nige we would be on 180 points now
Look at their budget ffs. I thought most of our outfield players played to their utmost......so much so O'leary only had 2 saves to make. We've come on a lot this season, playing in a most unfair league.
They are immense defensively, but only average upfront. They will be comfortably relegated from the PL again next season. I think belief did for us today, I sensed we never believed we could get anything, so many passes going astray, it hasn’t been like that the last couple of months.
The real truth was shown by Bristol City at Turf Moor today when they faced a well coached squad who were better than us in every department, including the final score. Can anyone remember the last time we entered a game in which if we won it would have put us in the top 6 and if we lost then we stayed outside of the play-off positions? From my memory I would be tempted to say our failure rate has to be around 80-90% and most of those statistics were as a result of poor passing or a goalkeeper mistake when we were overwhelmed by the opposition. The result probably wasn't the dream we wished for and quite frankly there was nothing I saw in our weak performance to give me hope that we will enter several games over the next several weeks that carry more importance than the loss at Burnley and lose in much the same manner. The starters today got off quite brightly and looked in the mood but that soon wore off when Max was beaten by a good free-kick (???) and I knew in my heart of hearts that our day was probably over and the players looked totally bemused by Burnley's play and how on earth they didn't get a couple more is unbelievable. Losing our next match could give us a mortal injury from which we don't have a good enough response to hold the fort and you can't get in the play-offs from outside the top six.
There’s a reason why the top three are streets ahead of us and all others in this division. In ways those three play our best chance in the play offs is Sheff Utd. Leeds and Burnley are out of touch for us. Anyone who thought we would get something from today was either pissed or on drugs. Some say lucky to only conceded one could be true but like RP said we defended brilliantly against them. Nice to see the usual bi polar city fans saying we are **** and fail at final hurdle. But the truth of the matter is we are still in the running with big games coming up. If we fail we fail but no one can’t say we have not tried.
We lost 1-0 to a top side from an amazing free kick.. nothing to be ashamed of imo.. best season we’ve had for years..
The next two games are monster games at home-must win both. Only Boro won today the rest of us lost. We are still in the mix at present.
I did say a few games ago Middsbro would be looking to finish 5th ..... after 25th February! I think we had the better defence ... dealt with 36 touch's in the box with a 14/3 shots againt our 11 touch's and 4/1 shots.
7 games to go There will be lots of nerves building and points will be dropped by all the contenders chasing the final 2 places Exciting !
Liam Manning makes 'sloppy' Bristol City admission as quality costs Robins in Burnley defeat Liam Manning's Bristol City were beaten 1-0 by Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...ws/liam-manning-makes-sloppy-bristol-10065477
Left on a coach at 7am from a BS4 pub doing cider breakfasts, there were four coaches in Darwen before the game and i can say there were quite a few who were, and thats about all i can say on!!!!
We lost to a top class free kick by a very well organised side. Disappointing of course but not unexpected. Ah well - moving on- Next….
Again, if you need any more proof, how important is a top keeper. And what about the straightforward shot directly at him........he just flapped it forward in the 6yd box......luckily he/we got away with it.
Let’s be honest most of us before the game we’re saying we’d do well to get anything out of the game, and we ended up losing 1-0 to a top class free kick. The orher results largely went well for us and we are still well in the mix. The only disappointment for me is we gave them a bit too much respect and didn’t really give it a go. We move on. We now have seven games to go, personally I’d rather we go for it. I’ll be more disappointed if we miss out, but I can honestly say we gave it a go. Imo it’s more about having a positive mindset now, the players have to go into each game believing they can win, being brave, and leaving nothing on the pitch.
It’s nice to go through a season without worrying about a relegation battle or being sucked into one!!
You can’t blame Max for that defeat, majority of players weren’t up to the task against a quality Burnley side..
