Was it kids day today? I had no idea it would spread to the pitch were the players turned in a performance a bunch of 13 year old's would find hard to achieve. Only HCAFC could decide to do something like that on one of the most important games of the season...Fercking amateurs.
If Somebody asked Alexa to sum up Hull City at home the last 2 years, it would just show that winning goal today
Just got home, gutted. That was a long afternoon of struggle, a head scratcher, we had every incentive to kick on, fresh, but we never got going, no fire in our bellies. And the sad thing is, most of us half expected/dreaded it, it’s the way we roll isn’t it. Two poor sides, we couldn’t cope with their physicality. We continued with the same approach, Gelhardt worked his socks off down the wing, but lobbing balls across to an ineffective/non existent front line. To not trouble the opposition keeper until injury time is criminal. No one other than Gelhardt, maybe Abu & Coyle, came out of that with any credit. Yet again, we concede around the half time period, a gift to Luton. I kind of feel for young Joseph, obviously out of confidence, but totally ineffective up front, like boys v men, total mismatch against their physical back line. He needs resting, perhaps he found his level in L1. His golden chance, late 2nd half, he just needed to put his boots through it, don’t think about it. Despite Ruben’s assertions it’s no big deal, just one game of footy lost, I do now fear, with other results this aft, the psychological damage this will have, the trap door looming. Naffed off tigress.
Weird team to play against are Luton, you can't press them and win the ball high as everything goes long and direct to two very capable units up top, like Pulis' Stoke they basically have 4 CBS at the back, are happy to concede possession and sit deep and central using their physicality to defend crosses comfortably. I'm surprised they're as low in the table as they are, they're a slightly better version of Millwall for me who are comfortably upper mid table, but they're obv down there for a reason. As for us.....I'm torn today between feeling sorry for Joseph and wanting to lay in on him....he made a lot of runs in behind when the ball never came, but the one time he did get half a sight of goal never looked like getting a shot off, I think the polite description of him would be that he's raw, he's had a tough intro at hull playing in a team that doesn't score many and playing a lot out wide which really doesn't suit him.....that said, we could have had Kane up top today and he'd not have got anywhere near scoring either in all fairness.
I’ve never really paid much attention to that video on the big screen before the game of City fans in Turkey . There is a guy who says he’s supported City 55 years , and this is the most exciting time . And I’m not knocking that guy because it should be and it probably felt like that sat in the Turkey Sun , but Jesus you watch that game and look At the table and it’s actually pretty shocking how ****e it is on the field
After that woeful performance I can't stop thinking about the 2019/20 season when we sank like a stone losing our last 6 games. Must get out more.
Forget the freak goal. Selles picked the wrong team today. Palmer was outmuscled, Joseph never looks like scoring, Gelhardt should have been centre forward from the start. I fully expect Derby to win tomorrow and we will be in the ****.
Burstow would have been more physical than Joseph but his control is not as good . Every time we have a break we come back lethargic looking .
Our problem in the home games is that when teams do the high press, our passing is ponderous, by the time we get to the halfway line the opposition are lined up defensively. On the odd occasion we break quickly there never seems to be a quick outlet ball up top as there’s no-one there. It’s a frustrating watch, 0-0 would have been a fair result between two awful teams.
Bloomfield concedes goal was 'extremely fortunate' Luton Town Matt Bloomfield told BBC Three Counties Radio: "We've got to be incredibly proud of the performance today. We started well, hit the post and had a couple of good chances. "Being the away side, there's a time when you're going to have to defend and we did that. "The goal was obviously extremely fortunate but in terms of our performance, the endeavour, the way the boys are playing, the shape, there's a lot to be pleased and proud about. "The fans want to see our boys' grit and determination. That's what our club stands for and they saw that today."
