To cut a long story short, an elderly couple built up something of a menagerie in their tiny bungalow. Because of the couple's dementia and increasing frailty, over thirty assorted birds and creatures were existing in cramped, squalid conditions. A friend and I saw this story online and decided to act alongside a few local sanctuaries who were willing to foster an animal or two until rehoming was possible. The tortoise, Bertie, has now gone to a lovely new home. In fact, the majority of the animals are now in good hands. Even the rats, Clive and Wendy, have been successfully adopted.
