Had a hire car for a few days last week, it had lane assist. I automatically dismissed it as a new gizmo, unnecessary, etc. However after a few days of driving with lots of motorway stuff I grudgingly started to see it's benefits and now I wouldn't object to owning a car that had it.
Years ago I used to say who needs central locking, electric windows, heated mirrors, and what have you...

I've got lane assist and it gets turned off every time I start the car, along with the stop start function, each to their own. :emoticon-0138-think

Of course you can turn it off if you want. At least you can at the moment...
The car I had, I switched off the speed warnings, too intrusive, but I played with the lane assist a bit and grew to appreciate it. It made me indicate routinely on motorways when I overtook other cars which can only be a good thing.
I do think that it'll become nigh on impossible to buy a new car without all this stuff in the not distant future so, Highpeak Tiger, you could be stuck with the Kia for a while :emoticon-0100-smile

I still do. Remember, you're paying for all this, especially when it goes wrong. I had a Mark 1 Golf back in the day. Great car.

I'm 71, I reckon it will do me for the duration.
Thing is, the economy would like me to spend on a new one (growth, I think they call it), Well they've shat out.

Is lane assist the reason for people sitting in the middle lane?

I had a Citroen 2cv back in the day, loved it, but I wouldn't want one now, except as a weekend toy!

Lane assist, intelligent cruise control, car just drives itself, genuinely. In that Ford mustang electric thing you are legally allowed to drive hands free on motorways, mad.

I wouldn’t buy another car without it now to be honest.

Haven't got a clue what those are, I gave my licence up years ago after doing thousands of miles a year on the motorways.
There's that many cars on the roads these days and equal amount of ****ing idiots driving 'em, i'd had enough.
I mean, how can ya get twatted from behind in stationary traffic in lanes covered in bloody cones. I did on the M1 on the way to my next job down South. Two frigging ambulances, one for me and one for the conning bitch who I nudge when I got pushed. ****ing idiot got away with it for lack of evidence after telling the copper in front of me he was responsible. Glad it was a hire car that the company was paying for and not my own. :emoticon-0145-shake

Should have just bought the entry level model; you'd have saved thousands.

They all have it, I'm not 100% sure but I think it's a legal requirement on new cars

I'm an average driver, but I always indicate on roundabouts (all the way around) and when overtaking. :emoticon-0138-think

Getting rid of my car next week. Don’t need to cover the motorway miles anymore & looking to replace it with something more sensible.

Looking at either a Corsa or Hyundai I20. Swaying to the Corsa.

    Not electric though.
