I'm touched* that anyone thinks that highly of me. * Indeed. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Battery. Though in 2019 they had to recall 70,000 cars in the UK alone, due to a fire risk with their diesel engines, so it can happen with any vehicle.
Easier for the fire brigade to put a diesel engine fire out. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
The question to ask is, why is it a bigger headline when it's an electric car fire risk? Why do people want to hear and spread a negative headline about electric cars? Why do people who supposedly have no interest in them want to talk so much about their drawbacks? It doesn't really make sense to be so partisan about a choice of technology. It's nothing new, but it's certainly a flaw in humans that we're so bad at being objective and thinking critically. We're all biased of course. One of my biases is that I'm in favour of reducing the number of engines chugging about our streets, although on that I think less cars in general is the best solution, while making more of them electric is just a good intermediate step. Another bias of mine is that Tesla is run by a horrible, destructive person who I would love to see fail. Another is that I think newer cars can be an absurd, vanity-fuelled money pit, so I doubt I'll be buying an electric car any time soon, unless used ones are available more cheaply than I think. I think it's strange to hold the bias of being generally anti-electric car though, and I think we should be able to examine our biases and consider whether they're justifiable.
“I thinkwe should be able to examine our biases and consider whether they're justifiable.” And then conclude you are right…
The reason I am anti electric cars is purely down to politicians (who drive around in diesel Range rovers) telling me I have to have one.
I'm hanging on until sanity is resumed in the form of engineers who can actually get **** to work. Where's all this electricity coming from then?
Part of the plan seems to be to utilise expensive, environmentally damaging solar panels made by Uyghur slaves, well at least on the odd sunny days.
With Chinese EVs made with the electricity from coal fired power stations, loads of scarce precious resources etc. The one fact I did find amusing was motorway service stations using diesel generators to power EV chargers as there isn't sufficient grid power. It's like living in a Monty Python sketch.
I'm not hanging on, I'd just like car manufacturers to build cars people want. In my case something Mondeo/Insignia size with a petrol self charging hybrid engine. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Totally agree with this. I do not want any of these new gizmos like lane assist, etc and I don't want a touch screen. I am not going to pay for **** I don't want. Have a 19 plate Kia and will run it into the ground if necessary
Bingo , something Mondeo/Insignia price, in today's money. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
