It will go pay per mile travelled (which we already have with tax on fuel, the more you drive the more you pay) the extra thing with electric and new is the tracking ability. They know where and when you have been driving and can vary the charges accordingly, they will also be able to see bad driving too so expect to be receiving the fines in the post for that too. At the moment there maybe financial benefits to going electric but as all governments see the motorist as a cash cow don't be surprised when that changes, oh hang on it already is.
Seems sensible and fair but you know there will be push back whatever the proposals. Should be having these conversations now but no government is gonna want to touch it until the last possible moment.
March 24 (Reuters) - Tesla EV sales in Europe have fallen in February behind legacy brand Volkswagen and the BMW group, as well as rivals from China, data by research platform JATO Dynamics showed on Monday. They're no longer the biggest selling EV brand in California either, the original home of Tesla.
i wonder how long until that happened regardless of **** musk tesla were very ahead of the curve, but once the big car companies got to it, most people would choose those surely? and the chinese ones for price
This is what the organisers were making sure didn't happen, it's Tesla's Montreal dealership... please log in to view this image
To add balance, share price up 12% since Monday morning. Sales are down because some buyers are scared of vandalism and being seen as supporting musk. But sales are also down because a new version of the best selling model is about to come out... Same as when a new iPhone model is about to be released, sales drop in anticipation. Byd have higher sales now, but have a greater range - there isn't a Tesla Mini as such.
They know, and have known for some time, where you are and where you've gone in ICE cars. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I think you're massively underestimating the situation, the Tesla brand is toxic now, it's nothing to do with waiting for a new model to come out. Tesla's only European factory is in Germany, which is where they expect their biggest market to be, but in a survey this week 94% of German's said they would no longer consider buying a Tesla. They're being dumped, I saw a 2023 Model 3 for sale yesterday for £16,500.
Maybe i am underestimating and I'll hold my hands up if the brand never recovers. Branding and marketing aren't my field of expertise and i am not overly active on social media/following events, so just see the tech at face value. Also, here in Norway, ppl are a little more restrained towards overreacting over political events etc. So maybe I'm viewing from an EV bubble.
Nonsense. Sales are won 46% in Europe, where there hasn't been the vandalism (limited though it is) that there was in the US. Secondly people are not boycotting Tesla because they're afraid of being seen as supporting Musk, they're doing it because they don't want to support Musk because he's a fascist and corrupt dweeb.
Sales are up in the UK - "However, in the UK the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders reported an almost 21% rise in the number of new Tesla cars registered in February, with the Model 3 and Model Y proving the second and third most popular after the Mini Cooper"
If you think there's a problem with electric cars let's take a look at bikes. Kawasaki have a small range which are now being heavily discounted, £12,000 down to £7,000 another was £7,500 now £4,000. Zero were one of the early entrants into electric motorbikes, not sure what the original price was but they have discounts of up to £5,000 off bikes that have sat unsold since they were built in 2022 and 2023. Harley Davidson jumped on to the bandwagon too, but just 612 of the 150,000 bikes they sold worldwide last year were electric. It's quite likely that every dealer had to take 1 or 2 for demo and display purposes. In January just 170 alternative power motorcycles were sold and of those 160 were less than 11kw which is more of an electric bicycle than a motorcycle.
Last year, 28% of new car registrations were for EV’s, for motorbikes it was 3%. They just don’t seem to appeal to anyone.
Let's not buy cars from the fascist Musk, let's damage cars instead and show the world how virtuous we are. In the meantime, continue buying anything Chinese as they are the good guys, ( the genocide of the Uyghurs pales into insignificance compared to Musk's utterings) have I got this right?
