    without looking at stats

id take a guess that the mid level top flight teams are so much better than they were 20 years ago
teams like arsenal just steamrolling teams with henry etc just wouldnt happen these days
the fulhams and charltons of the current prem are so much better on average, and same for international football

teams like latvia would just get dicked every match, now they can defend very well, no attacking threat, but it makes playing them a chore

that saying means because Stoke were difficult to play against for the big teams, put under pressure from long throws and set pieces.
teams could do it at Stoke these days because like everybody else, they would probably just try and play 100 passes around the centre circle.
both Era's have their good and bad teams, id love to see the stats of how many times Giggs passed to his fullback against how many time he ran at the opposing full back, compared to modern wide players, in fact thats a massive contradiction as the number of stats contributes massively to the problems of todays game IMO . players are happy if they have a 99% pass completion rate, even if all to the bloke next to them.
Like i say each to their own anyway, everybody will have their own opinion which they prefer.

I always felt sorry for the council guy that had to deal with him, although he turned up to Edmund's funeral. I also liked his catchphrase, 'stick it up your chuffta' :emoticon-0138-think

Mr T. always reminded me of an old Polish guy that I first met when I first worked on the steelworks - a real character who, during WW2 fought for the Polish Home Army, was captured by the Germans and given the option of fighting on the Russian front or face a firing squad! He fought for them until he could desert when he was sent back to face the Allies. After vetting he joined a Polish regiment fighting for the Allies and eventually settled over here. Not a hoarder like Mr T. but a similar bloody minded character.

Former footballer Joey Barton has avoided jail for pushing his wife over and kicking her in the head.

The incident happened at their home in southwest London in June 2021.

Barton, 42, was convicted of assault and given a 12-week sentence, suspended for two years - meaning he will not go to prison unless he commits another offence.

Georgia Barton was left with a lump on her forehead and a bleeding nose after the attack in Kew.

    The **** him.

Just today got feedback that means I’ll likely be making a job offer to a guy from Carlisle, who parents are from our fair city. Given I live the other side of the pond, it’s written in the stars I tell you, in the stars.

I think it should read 'being paid' rather than 'earned'
