I really hope Rigg signs an extended contract in June and think he will. It will add a good chunk to his value and means we're better placed if bids come in.
I don't want Rigg or Jobe to go, but the Bidding will start for both of them soon and the money just may be too much to turn down. If it happens, I trust the recruitment team to bring in the right players, they have a great track record, be sad to see any of our players leave, but its the nature of the beast these days
If both Rigg and Jobe go then hopefully we'll have the thick end of £60m to play with next season - that would give us spending power on a par with the parachute payments being paid to premier league clubs. Could strenghthen the squad for a sustained promotion push. Ideally we get promoted so this scenario doesnt occur but its not the end of the world if we dont go up imo.
add Watson Money we could have at least 80m to play with in the summer, think we are in a better postion than most think, we will have gems limed up and players ready to go,
Forgot about him - think sales of players this summer could be the catalyst to promotion IF we dont go up this year. Its never ideal to lose players but at the end of the day players like Jobe and Rigg will go on to bigger and better things - just a question of maximising the profit we can get to invest in the next lot - plus we have lots of youth talent coming through as well which is not to be sniffed at.
exactly, and Cirkin to that too, possibly ballard and we could be, could pushing at near100m to play with, possibly patto too to go over that, think in the summer, regardless to what league we will be in, it will be an interesting one for sure
Of course its not like we would be spending that much for the sake of remaining sustainable, but even just over half of that should be enough to push us on to really compete for top 2. I do think that you can make the squad stronger than it is now with that and to be honest even make the starting XI better - just have to be smart and look abroad despite how hit and miss we have been with it so far.
£100m to spend on players. Plus losing 3 or 4 from a squad of 30 doesn't suddenly mean we have "no players" It's about time the club was given some credit for the way it operates. There are people with ****ing short memories who seem to forget when we spunked £3m on Will Grigg, or £16m on Ndong. We went about 10 years without making a profit on a player. I'd argue that every player on our books would be sold for a profit - some small, some large. KLD and Speakman deserve credit for that
https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/bo...-expect-star-leave-summer/bltaa790b1cd8b3a22e Borussia Dortmund back in for Jobe Bellingham! Bundesliga side reignite interest as Sunderland 'expect' star to leave in summer
I’d love him to go there, think he’d thrive and go straight in. I don’t see him walking into many prem teams at the minute to be honest I’d hate for his next move not to work out or just go somewhere that’s going to loan him out, the lad is a great talent. I think Brighton would be a good move too great track record with youngsters lately.
Personally I can't see him going there. It's been said that he's trying to make his own name in the game and to avoid comparisons with his brother. Jobe going to Dortmund would do the exact opposite
Bloody hell mate. Anyone left? Last thing we want, whatever league, is to be needing 8 new first teamers.
There are always going to be comparisons no matter what he does. Depending on other options he'd be mad to turn down a transfer to Dortmund.
A bidding war for him would do us nicely - i trust the current lot to get the most we can for him - having loads of teams in for him just pushes his price up further. Although i do wonder if he would stay on a couple more seasons if we get promoted.
I totally agree that there will always be comparisons no matter what but like I said in my opinion, even though the family would've had a good relationship with Dortmund I don't see him going there. No doubt in the future we'll see how right or wrong I am
I am of the mindset to let a lot of them try if we go up. They are growing at a rate of knots. I would let Cirkin, Ballard, Hume, Neil, Rigg, Jobe, Mayenda and Watson / Mundle all have a crack it the prem. I would obviously like to see some extra quality in too, but not 8. If we go down so be it, but I want to give this group every chance to step up. They will have earned it imo.
