thats far different to assosication football than union and league itd be like if football was played on thje same pitch but 12 v 12 or something is my point
union and league are two completely different games - league is played by hard, working class Northerners and Union by soft, Southern nonces
There's only twelve teams, so one up one down is no different to League Two having two relegations with 24 teams. Having no relegations at all is clearly a terrible idea.
Compared to only 10 teams in Rugby Union Premiership and only a pkay off to decide whether any one is relegated- bit of a mickey mouse game which only survives because of interest in the six nations
Rugby union must be a front for laundering drug money, how else does each nation finance them big fancy stadia? Twickenham, Murrayfield and the others.
Three clubs going out of business. Bottom club Newcastle reliant on hand outs to survive. No promotion and relegation as eligible clubs do not meet stadium size requirements. Premiership clubs will be getting £33 mil a year. Championship clubs only £133k a year. Games in a mess and it looks like their solution is to create a closed shop.
Record attendance for any England RL game = 67500. Average attendance for the 2017 six nations was 72000. 2023 England v France game 82000. They can afford the stadia because internationals are massively popular while England RL games draw about half the RU attendances and that only for the big draws like Australia and NZ. Hope that helps.
I would guess that the RFU gets a lot more for TV figures on top of stadium attendance as well. International is in good health, but in England at club level, it's ****ed. Salaries too high, too many paid players, not enough sponsorship or advertising money anymore, not enough fans.
League isn’t. Union is elitist boring bullshit. Only have to come across any rugby union team at university to know that it’s elitist. Fans thrive off the fact they can sit side by side and enjoy the game, where’s the fun in that?
Having started watching rugby league over the last 3 or so years I think it’s definitely grown on me. Love the fact hull is responsible for having some of the best players in the country atm no matter which side they play for.
Some ****e being spread on this couple of pages: anyone thinking RU is ''elitist and boring'' or ''played by ''soft Southern nonces'' should try popping into any of the many Northern city/town amateur RUFC clubhouse and tell them - take plenty of mates with you though, you'll need 'em.
