17:10 Newbury - Rebel Dawn Rising

Class-5 Hunters' Chase over an extended 2m7f on good-to-soft ground.

Only 5-runners but still an open race. Mr Dale Peters (3) rides for the David. Kemp stable.

7/2 best price in many places on the ATR site, at time of writing.

Won at 9/2 SP. Another truly desperate finish as RDR looked to have been run out of it by the eventual second, but fought back to win by a nose right on the finish line. Thought the result was the other way round and could hardly believe the veteran gelding had got up to win it. Trainer and owner, David Kemp, is a farmer of arable land in Norfolk, and is better known as a P2P owner/trainer, He said that no one taught him anything about training racehorses, and said his training grounds were cut-out from strips of land from his farm. Also remarked that it was all mostly commonsense and enjoyed having a few veteran P2P hunter chasers as a hobby! Really, he is quite a character! :emoticon-0100-smile
Oh, almost forgot. RDR was given a fine ride by regular jockey, Dale Peters, who never gave-up and rode his mount with vigour right up to the winning post. <ok>
