I’m not sure it matters who was in for him then. He’s done really well here and stood out during our improvement so I’m sure he’ll have more watching him now. If we paid £4.5m for Kamara, Geldhardt is worth at least the same based on what we’ve seen.
Even in January we managed to attract some very good players at this level, finish strong and I see no reason we won’t be signing Joffy or any other players of a similar quality, we have almost every window.
Yeah I'm amazed people still whip up things like "Oh well he'll go wherever offers the highest salary" as if we didn't bring in Louie Barry against competition from top 6 clubs.
I'm not sure if Barry got more money than his existing contract when he signed on loan for us, I suspect not. Nowadays the word 'professional' in a footballers job title is more relevant than ever, and the majority will move for the money. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
My point was that we have signed a number of players over the last three years who people thought we couldn't get - Seri, Tufan, Philogene, Carvalho, Barry, etc.
Using the 'whip up' guff, when it could well be Seri, Tufan, and Philogene were on top money, the other two you mention there won't have had extra money from us. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
You think we offered Seri more money than he was shopping around for in Saudi? Ok. Interesting you picked out those three and ignored, say, Carvalho, who was being pursued by Wolves (PL), Leeds (Top 4) and Southampton (Top 4). We offered more money than those clubs too?
Thimothée Lo-Tutala has joined Crawley Town on a seven-day emergency loan Good luck, TLT ➡ https://www.wearehullcity.co.uk/news/2025/march/21/lo-tutala-joins-crawley-on-emergency-loan/
Before coming to us Seri may have shopped in Saudi, but he never reached the tills. Also Carvalho was a loan player, he would be paid the same money he was on at Liverpool wherever he went to on loan, not a penny more. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Loan players are sometimes paid more to go on loan, the club bringing the player in can offer money on top of the contract they have with their parent club if they want to sweeten the deal or convince the player *We didn't with carvalho though*
Many on here were unaware of that in times gone by. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
It wasn’t for a lot yesterday or today. The better half went shopping yesterday and wondered if there were school holidays there were that many kids about. Went into town this dinner time and there were indeed loads. Not locals as they were all with their parents. Wessies at a guess. They tend to have half term holidays a week before us but there isn’t one at the moment.
