I would suggest that is a pun against the people/department he is getting rid of. Depart men of Education
He was a legal protester. Are you saying opinions should be illegal? People should be arrested and deported for having different opinions? That is something I am highly against. It might seem great while the people in charge agree with you, but when the next person comes in power, he might have opinions different to you, and then guess what: Mark Blow is being deported to some El Salvador prison. Be careful of systems that stomp on others legal rights, because they could come after you next.
****ing desperate! At least you can comfort yourself that Trump has signed an executive order so that the straws you're clutching can only be made of plastic nowadays.
Thing about the US Education system. Even with the Department of Education: It's almost entirely funded by the local counties in most states. Back when Obama was in office a school district here in South Carolina made a plea to Obama directly for federal assistance because they still had text books from the 1960's that talked about "one day man will land on the moon". There are several reallllly poor counties in rural South Carolina where the majority of people are below the poverty line. (I don't remember the outcome of that plea, just that it made national news). Most county Education departments get their funding across the country from property taxes. As you can imagine, in rich parts of the country that works great, in poor parts of the country that means schools are little more than day-care centers. (not all states work like that, some have more centralized control and they tend to do better). It's crazy, some schools have their own massive stadiums, swimming pools, concert halls, etc... and some are pretty third-world looking. Anyone who is in political power probably grew up in a region where the schools were fairly good and probably don't have much experience with how bad some of them really are.
