Sucker for Dinosaur stories but have read that footprints of animals predating Dinosaurs have been discovered in the Italian Alps . They are from the Permian period when there was another mass extinction due to climate change
To put a bit of perspective on things, one big volcanic eruption would do more damage to the environment than man kind has done since the Creation. Most of the crackpot "Save the World" schemes are futile and ineffective, there are some that wiil help, but are just pinpricks in the scheme of things. The truth is, somewhen, the World will end, and there is nothing we can do about it. Enjoy your life while you can
Just to put your mind at ease there are several Volcanoes in Europe, the United States and the Arctic Circle that are overdue a major eruption, so perhaps they aren't going to blow?
The one on Lanzarote will cause a tsunami which will devastate the whole of the east coast of the USA when it goes.
We went to Tagaytay to see the Taal volcano which was about 70 miles outside of Manila but it was too dark to see anything by the time we arrived. There are loads of volcanoes in the Philippines but I think I was likely to be killed by food poisoning from.the restaurant we went to.
Ah, just after my father died in 2000, I spent six months volunteering for David Bellamy’s charity, and lived on an island in the Philippines called Cagdanao, 2 hours away from the next human being (who would have been in El Nido). I was with 20 others on the island - Ray Mears did an episode of his show there, and said it was the most remote place he’d ever been. The most extraordinary experience of my life, but **** me, Manila was horrid!
My wife says this was near Palawan. Agree about Manila but there are parts of the adjacent Quezon City which are still wildiness and excellent for birdwatching. Strange finding jungles in the middle of a metropolis. Manila was destroyed by the Americans and Japanese in ww2. It had been known as the Pearl of the Orient.
It was indeed. To get there you flew to Puerto Princessa in Palawan - then an eight hour jeepney ride up to the north to Taytay bay, then two hours by boat to Cagdanao.
Apparently, Yellowstone National Park (in Wyoming, mostly) was, and is, known for its volcanic events, such as geothermal springs, ground movements, etc. Geologists were looking for the likely position of the crater/caldera within Yellowstone, until they realised that the National Park actually IS the caldera. So if this one erupts, bye bye most of Wyoming, parts of Montana and Idaho, and hello Dark Ages, across the globe.
https://x.com/gbnews/status/1903012757915480341?s=46 Net zero is genuinely destroying the country. Not only has it put all of our bills and food prices up by 50%, now it is crippling infrastructure. All to do… absolutely nothing because China and USA are ramping up coal production. Clown world
