Gravenberch should be in the team of the season, he's been superb this year and a major reason we are where we are.

I do accept there is an argument for Tonali and Bruno though

Also, Gakpo is forcing Slot to find another position for Diaz. Diaz is clearly better than anything Newcastle have up top with the exception of Isak (at CF)

    Totally agree.

Bradley is a better RB, Trent is a better player. Both are better options than Livramento.

Robbo isn't what he was but he's still better than most other LBs in the league. Tsimikis over Hall too.

Zobo is the workhorse. He's the Hendo or Wijnaldum of this team (that's high praise in my eyes) but with more going forward. We miss him when he's not playing, more so than any other midfielders imo.

I don't they've both been decent but Gravenberch as you say had been incredible and Macallister is a World Class player. Newcastle on a decent run but Dom still gets in that midfield.
Let's be honest this thread is all about Newcastle Bigging up a decent run into something it's not. They're lucky it's an argument over one or 2 players or it would be embarrassing.

I only said I accept them as an argument, didn't say they'd be my picks, I wouldn't pick either

Yeah I know, just saying that the whole getting into this is kinda nonsense. Isak and Hall for an aging Robertson is about it but the boots he's got to fill are huge, one of the greatest PL full backs ever.

I want us to try to sign Isak but suspect he'll be far too expensive for us now.

    Genuinely wouldn't pick anyone else.

And I repeatedly said I'd be gutted if we signed Gordon last summer, don't want him anywhere near the club.

Like, Newcastle have some good players there and have tried to bring in smart buys rather than go nuts with fake money.

They've turned a maybe player in isak into a really top prem player by the look of it as nobody was willing to take thr punt on thst guy. Thry had the scope and took the risk.

Tonali with respect is a smaller and match fixer who has been let off lightly. Decent but not top class.

Hall is there to improve. He's probably going to break out more now and be worth the fee paid but they have again bought potential and he is likely to come good.

Guimeras has flattered to deceive frankly. Sometimes unplayable sometimes useless. It depends what version turns up and what space he is given.

Botman I think is good but has had injuries so if those clear up then again a good buy for potential that was just below the level where clubs were going to take the risk

Gordon is a flopper. He's come on a bit since his Everton days and has done some good things but it is too few and far between at times.

Add in kelleher next season and there's a spine of a team there.

They've also bought livaramento as damaged goods as well as Barnes and willock.

Imo that squad is not far away from being a very good 11.

When they sign salah, kelleher and another cm to replace joelinton they might go very far.

The assertion that the two Newcastle mids are better than anything we have, has aged really well today <laugh>

Yep, the assertion that the two Newcastle minds are better than anything Liverpool have, has aged really well today. <laugh> <laugh> <laugh>

Probably should have said all three are better TBF. <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Anyone having second thoughts now? :)

More seriously the Liverpool fans there that I talked to and that was a fair few all did Liverpool proud and were very gracious.and complimentary and didn’t pretend that they hadn’t wanted to win it.

    A great day.

Nothing changes after a one off game, we battered you in the league only recently. Did that change your mind?

I would have agreed other than the fact the tactics were puzzling the other week in the league and then Howe admitted in his post match interviews to doing it deliberately.

    Mickey mouse cup... <whistle>

Lol... Good job. I wish we won it, but since we didn't I don't begrudge Newcastle being the winners.

    Cup or top four.

For us at this moment in time, the Cup every single time.

And so it should always be.

It's utterly irrelevant from here as the games are gone. 9 games to go to get 4th as an added bonus.

    Called it.

Pity it was slot's stupid tactics thst cost.

Howe just hoofed it long at isak who was eaten alive by vvd but literally no lfc midfielder bothered go for the second balls.

It should have been a bore 0-0 but slot was found out for stupidity.

Howe easily read the zonal and simply placed his big men outside that and headed it back.

Slot picked a keeper who didn't dive cos he saw it late.

Fair play to howe for having a tactic.

Fair play to players who really wanted it and a crowd who were just so happy
