The Royal Family are like chameleons- they are what you want to see. For some here, they provide order and stability, for others it is an outdated institution that is at the head of a social structure dating from William the Conqueror's time that should be confined to history. For me, I am totally indifferent towards them but can identify with the need for a much slimmed down oñe with the patronage of state - coaches and the dress attire confined to history.
Buck house should be holiday lets as should the other crown properties. Chaz III could be the concierge.
I think the two historically major parties overlap a fair bit. In some respects you could argue the current Labour government is to the right of the last Conservative one - Starmer has criticised the Tories' "open border" experiment (and while I expect immigration numbers will remain very high they'll probably come down somewhat), they cut the winter fuel allowance and are now making changes to welfare that I think the Tories would have been scared of.
Or manufacturing plants producing high speed trains. Yes, the HSTs.were a brilliant piece of British engineering, and perhaps oñe of the last remaining.items from.an era when the UK produced things before shutting them down or selling them off.
Good question. A cynic might say, on current form, Labour. But that leaves the question, who will replace Labour on the left? Liberals and Greens maybe? Seems unlikely, since the Lib Dems are determinedly centrist and the Greens are mostly a one issue party…important though that issue is. Everything is up in the air right now, we seem to be witnessing a seismic realignment in British politics. No idea how it all pans out tbh.
Ides Not sure anyone will be close allies with the US in 4 years time. Boris has still got to navigate the Covid enquiry. I expect the US / UK relationship to have deteriorated by then.
The Trade Unions and the Labour Party are closer than at any time since the 1970s. The RMT, an influential left wing voice within the labour movement which broke off it's affiliation with Blair's Labour in 2004, endorsed the party at the last election. And their reward is the renationalisation of the railways, a new deal for working people, and the repeal of at least some anti TU legislation implemented by the Tories. Unite remains a critical left wing voice within the Labour movement, but they're back in the fold; part of the family, so to speak, albeit a sometimes troublesome relative.
Must be fake news as it isn't on X or truth social. As an aside, I find it ridiculous that people now call the media 'legacy media' as if it is now irrelevant. There is the media that is fact checked and accountable and there is the wild west of social media where anything goes.
I am imagining how Os's mum would feel if he was abducted and spirited away to Russia. She would probably still argue that he was taken by Muslims.
Yep it reminds me of convos I have with my team when we talk about the English language. They say, Ah but we speak/write American English. I say there are two types of English. English And incorrect English
When I was at school it was considered very uncool to be smart, work hard or to know anything. Now, my generation rule the world… and the predominant sense I get is that it is still uncool to be smart, work hard or know anything.

Eventually you guys on here will catch up when the European media tells you the narrative
