Well done Toon. I love Newcastle as a city, and even though I’ve never warmed to them the club is a big part of the town. And they beat the perennial victims. Yay!

Delighted that Newcastle won, but, by ****, didn't the commentator milk the whole Toon history thing? Pop ****ing Robson?

Great to see Newcastle win and they thoroughly deserved it too. Joelintons work rate is absolutely phenomenal

What Howe has done with Joelinton is incredible, transforming him from an inconsistent striker into a midfield workhorse. Though I can do without celebrating making a tackle, however good it is.

If Tuchel is solely here for the World Cup campaign then Howe is surely the man to take over after that, he tactically outwitted Slot and the clever corners that isolated Liverpool's central defenders was a masterpiece. The way he's improved players speaks volumes...

    Chris Wood shown yellow card
The All Whites were breathing a sigh of relief that star striker Chris Wood didn’t pick up a yellow card during his 60 minutes on the field against Fiji.

Because if he had, Wood would have missed the OFC World Cup qualifying final against New Caledonia on Monday night.

The Premier League star was shown a yellow card for entering the crowd to sign autographs for young New Zealand fans after scoring a hat-trick of headers to lead the 7-0 demolition at Sky Stadium on Friday night.

If Wood had already been on a yellow, he would have been shown a red card and suspended for the final, where the All Whites are aiming to qualify for the World Cup for only the third time.

Wood created quite the commotion when he climbed up the stairs. New Zealand’s most high-profile footballer was quickly swarmed by supporters, drawing the attention of stadium security and police.

When he returned to the bench, Wood was issued a yellow card by referee Norbert Hauata.

Wood told TVNZ after the game that he was “just trying to do something nice and sign for the fans”. In another interview with Stuff, he said “it’s very interesting, we’ll just leave it at that.”

Coach Darren Bazeley said he “wasn’t sure what happened there” but thought it was nice of Wood to make time for the fans as the All Whites needed to make a hasty exit to catch a charter flight bound for Auckland after the game.

“There’s no harm done. It’s a yellow card that doesn’t carry over so he’ll be fine
