Is that Denis Law in your Avi?
It is - seem to recall that may have been his 'Soccer Stars' sticker pic from the 70s... which I collected as a lad...

Get her to watch Adolescence she'll soon change her mind.Bit of an argument between me and my nippers mum at the minute.
She wants him to have a smartphone when he goes to senior school next September whereas I'm like absolutely not and thinking 14/15 at the absolute youngest.

as Sucky constantly proves, adults can't use the internet safely, why do people think children will?

Such hard decisions for you as parents, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't, but to think differently is a good thing, because you can make a mindful list of the pros and cons. If conditions are set before any smartphone is given, the easier conditions can be applied and the more likelihood of agreement from the little one, rather than after, where you'd get the 'but daaad.' Whereas if conditions are applied before, the clearer the rules to them, because they won't want it taken away. My grandson is allowed game time dictated by his mum and dad, but there is no connection to third parties.
Interesting topic though.

Throw the whole 21st century in the bin imo. We are sleep walking into a sci-fi horror movie.

My 3310 was fine.
Can you not put age locks on these things? Useful for kids to have access to google maps if they get lost. I think a total social media ban to 16 is too much but it’s basically just pornbots and gambling ads now so if there’s a way for the platforms to age restrict content or the phones themselves to filter it out then I think access to the platforms and smart phones in general is fine.
Probably but I don't particularly trust them and I'm sure there's way around these things. Ultimately the 'missing out' factor is all about social media and I don't want him using it full stop until he's much older.
He's got a ****ty Nokia already cos he walks home from school on his own. That'll do fine until 15.
Your right 100% if I could go back I'd not give my kids mobiles knowing what I know now.Probably but I don't particularly trust them and I'm sure there's way around these things.
