Clearly, the referee failed to read the protocols before the game of how he had to apply the laws for the home team ….. Only joking of course ….
Yeah, read that on bbc sport. The comments were amusing as well - not a lot of love for Irish shenanigans
One comment I’ve seen elsewhere is that this is the best most settled Scottish side for many generations playing at home against the worst performing Welsh team in history and they won by less than a converted try
Yes but to be fair, the game was over at half time and teams do tend to ease off in that situation. It would be nice if Wales could stage an early come-to instead of these late come-backs Who of us would have imagined back to back wooden spoons and getting dominated by Scotland just a few years ago? Oh well, I suppose the only way is up now (or sideways).
It's possible but will still feel like abject failure Let's hope they play out of their skins next weekend
Unbelievable performance by the Welsh U20s this evening - England were on for the Grand Slam and went 13-3 up. 20 unanswered points from the Taffs and a 23-13 win with the Orcs losing their heads at the death, ending with 13 after 2 yellows (1 for tackling in the air, the other for losing his head in the last minute) Now, if only the senior team can play with as much passion tomorrow. Tonight Welsh heart beat English strength
Bloody embracing game. More disallowed tries buggering things up again with var happy refs against us again
I missed most of the first half as I was travelling home from watching the Swans. I sat through the second half and frankly wasn’t that surprised. It was a chastening experience but one that is largely the end result of 20 years of ineptitude by the WRU in failing to invest properly in the game in Wales. I remember one telecom in particular that I had with Steve Phillips when he was FD of the WRU - my wife was in the car with me and she just couldn’t believe the negativity of the guy and how unhelpful he was towards the Region(s). In my opinion, the Senior Management Team at the WRU thought that they could ride roughshod over the Regions and keep them on a short leash financially: they failed to realise the interdependencies involved/mutual benefits in helping to create a sustainably strong pathway from schools all the way through to the National Side.
The first try they robbed off us the var happy ref was looking to see if the ball bounced back off who's head ? When that didn't suit he and the English var moosh went looking for something else to make sure we didn't get the try. Later the English player headed the ball forward to score ! If our excellent second try had been given I reckon the boys would have made more of a game of it, but they went to pieces after all that and made the English ahem look a lot better than they are . Good tries disallowed in previous 2 games faltered to deceive how good we were in those games too !
We can't blame the officials for this. A bit harsh but the decision was correct, the 9 was in front of the headed ball and interfering with play. Not as harsh as Faletaus disallowed try for the "jump" last week though IMO. We started the second half really well but just couldn't score. Mee bombed a sitter through greed and if we'd got back into the game then we wouldn't have seen that humiliating score line at the end. 2019 - Grand Slam, WC semis, number one in the world (albeit briefly) 2025 - record losing streak, record defeats. Now a third tier rugby nation. This decade really has been crap! Let's go back and start the 2010s again
VAR is ruining the game in both shaped balls , the refs are bad enough but var adds to the time wasted and spurious decisions.
I agree in that they do seem to getting overly picky about the most minor things but then miss a lot (of minor things) as well. It is what it is and I can't see it changing TBH.
