8, Only one change of shirt each season. 9, evening games and s*** kick-off times only for clubs a maximum of 50 miles for travelling.
I find myself in complete agreement with everything posted above apart from the words highlighted in red. With regard to point 5, I would also like to see women's teams and fixtures more clearly identified when being covered on Sports channels such as SSN. On weekdays when there are women's matches on as well as men's games the live teleprinter information is repeatedly confusing, to the point of being pretty annoying. Surely some form of 'non sexist' differentiation could be agreed upon. Such as the women's teams & fixtures being displayed in dark blue text while the men's game information remains in black. That would be enough of a difference to allow viewers primarily interested in only one form or the other to 'automatically' disregard information they are not interested in. The current method on SSN of just using prefixes like WSL just doesn't work - for me anyway. Who bothers to read the prefix? In my experience the first thing that catches your attention is the name of the home team. Constantly having to fight that, and being misled (even if only for a second or two each time) is irritating and unnecessary in my view. Especially when updates are coming in every few seconds sometimes. It amounts to a subliminal effort to induce people into taking onboard information they have no interest in. A form of advertising. Advertising should always be clearly identified as such. PS: I agree with points 6,7,8 and 9 above as well, Though there would be practical difficulties enforcing point 9. And for point 8 I'd say one change of kit every 3 years. And all kits to have a 50% refund when changed.
On this day in 1971, we beat Middlesbrough at The Valley in front of 9,000 supporters. A Paul Ward penalty was the game's only goal.
Hi @Ponders Revisited On a completely unrelated note, did you see the news item yesterday about the US “social media influencer “ who stole a baby wombat from her Mother in Australia ?
This is a doubly sad story in my opinion. What this stupid woman did is obviously wrong and unforgivable. You can't do that kind of thing 'by mistake'. It was simply dumb-assed attention seeking. She should never be let back into Australia. The second element of sadness is that many children today, when asked what they want to do when they grow up (what profession or job they would want in order to earn a living), they say 'Influencer' or 'YouTuber'. God help us. PS: Shouldn't this be in the 'bad news' thread?
What a day of football we have ahead of us - Two London derbies. The Steel City derby. The Old Firm derby. The Dundee derby. The League Club final. Leicester v Man United live tonight. I’ve told the dog he can walk himself.
League Cup Final Liverpool are rubbish Though I don't like Newcastle because of who owns the Club now, I'm happy enough for their fans. Looks like a first proper trophy for them in 70 years. But the Final could have been so much better if both teams had turned up. Not sure I'll bother watching it to the end now.
A bit over the top though, talk of a statue for Eddie Howe. For winning the League Cup. He's a gatekeeper, that's an open secret. The owners will replace him with an 'A' list international manager as soon as they can get around the rules about not spending unlimited cash on players.
First trophy in 70 years - he’s a proven ENGLISH manager and probably the best manager they’ve had in a long time, if it’s not broken why try and fix it ?
Eddie Howe needs to be the next England manager. He is top-drawer and extremely likeable. I'm chuffed to bits for him and those long-suffering Geordies.
Because NUFC's owners are Saudi sports-washers, and they didn't buy Newcastle United in order to secure a footnote in the pages of the World Sporting press with a Carabao Cup win. They want the same as their chums in the UAE who own Manchester City want. A string of bought Premier League titles, plus major European silverware. To help them legitimise their regime.
Howe should be the current England manager. What was the point of donkey's years of Gareth, building St Georges Park and all that stuff, when the FA then goes and appoints a German as the manager of the National team? I thought all the investment was supposed to bring on a new generation of English managers.
