You are a massive knob aren’t you. As I have told you a hundred times, all statistics like this (including your beloved xG) are simplifications with additional variables which means they are inherently flawed, so your point is rather missing the core point. The point is that as a general rule we get a lot more points with McLean than without. (1.65 vs 0.8 ppg). And if you had actually engaged with my post, I simply drew the conclusion that McLean was “very important”. The statistics disagree with you on Sargent I’m afraid: Ppg with him: 1.45 Ppg without him: 1.29 So he is clearly valuable but statistically at least on this simplified basis does not seem to be as important as McLean. As for Sainz: Ppg with him: 1.38 Ppg without him: 1.4 So the statistics disagree! The main issue there is, though, Sainz has only missed 5 league games. I know you hate this because you have an irrational dislike of McLean and Scottish footballers generally, but your judgement is clouded as a result - the statistics are always inherently flawed, but in this instance they are too extreme to ignore as useful general conclusions. Oh how the worm has turned with Robbie getting mangled by statistics disagreeing with his gut feel...

Am I alone in thinking that had we not had the injuries and suspensions that we’ve had this year that we would be well in the playoffs, perhaps pushing the top 4? I know the injuries happen and it’s the same for everyone but we have been hit particularly hard and with heavy concentration in our midfield. Last year McLean and Sara were ever present. The injuries came to our strikers again and wingers.
You are far from alone Suffolk; I'd say our being at least well in the playoffs is more or less the general opinion. Over and above missing individual talents, the level of change from match to match has been disruptive to the process of embedding Hoffball. On the plus side, it's also meant that every fit player in the squad has been called on at some point, and a bunch of young players have gained valuable experience.
Nope. Not alone - although it does underline the idiocy of McLean getting that second four match ban (and the first one but the fourth match of that felt harsh so I don’t totally blame him)
All teams suffer injury crises at times, but what matters it is which players are affected. We have severely missed Sargent, Nunez and McLean especially. Missing Sorenson, Forsythe and Cordoba not so crippling.
Nice silver lining there Robbie, I guess it has certainly helped form some decisions around some players, although you could caveat that some players may have looked better if there was a more settled team around them
Suppose this was our first-choice team for the season: Gunn Fisher, Duffy, Doyle, Mahovo Núñez, McLean, Marcondes Jurásek, Sargent, Sainz Suppose further that one of (A) McLean or (B) Sargent was ruled out for the entire season (all the others, plus a substitute for the missing player, being available throughout). Whose loss would be most damaging?
Dobbins out for rest of season? If so, this is a big blow. He has been very good for us since his loan arrival. So much so I would like to see him recruited permanently this summer, given Sainz will most likely be moving on. Not sure how he fits into Villas plans though.
He’s certainly grown into things after being afforded some proper game time. I don’t see him as being capable of replacing Sainz though, I’d hope to bring somebody else in, if he was cheap enough I.e under £5m maybe but I don’t see that happening. It is a real shame for him if he is out for the rest of the season as he was really starting to grow into things. Hopefully we can manage with Jurasek and Hernandez now coming back
Just read an excellent article published in The i Paper on the way City to about business. Can find it in News Now but I can't find a way of transferring it to here.
Is this the one GE? https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/norwich-city-21st-century-english-football-3569291
https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/24993191.six-things-might-missed-city-1-1-oxford-united/ "Marcelino Nunez's injury absence means that Norwich City have now entered month five without being able to start the Chilean, Kenny McLean, Borja Sainz and Josh Sargent in the same Championship line-up. The last time that Johannes Hoff Thorup was afforded that luxury was the 19th October in a 1-1 draw against Stoke -- even then, Nunez was withdrawn in the first half with a hamstring injury. City's 4-0 victory over Hull back in September was the last time that the quartet played 80 minutes on the pitch simultaneously. Nunez, Sargent, McLean and Sainz have missed 45 games of Championship football between them this season. That is over 32 percent of City's league season." Taking the lead in so many games, only to then concede and surrender points, might be said to demonstrate lack of backbone ...........
Binners are now 9 points from safety, and 16 goals worse GD. We shall be playing them next season for sure. Is it 46 years since they last best us? It seems like that much anyway.
