Ouch!!! Lube optional? Complete review of Welsh rugby needed from top to bottom and bottom to top. Bring the clubs back and get rid of the regions to begin with.
Not enough quality players in Wales to support a dozen clubs and be competitive in Europe. A start would be to get rid of the self appointed 'super clubs' and set up 3 or 4 genuine, geographic, regions. Then get rid of the old club ties that think they can run the WRU. They're the equivalent of Will Carling's 'old fart$'. Italy's structure is far more progressive, including 4 geographical regional academies. Rip it up and start again.
In the absence of the "bread and butter" game for a fortnight (I know there's some sort of international fixtures going on ), what can we watch on the TV that's entirely different? Never realised this programme existed until I came across it on BBC iPlayer. It was only ever broadcasted in it's native Scotland but I thought I'd have a look. Two younger guys made up to look like pensioners and it's 20 years or more old now, all made on real locations and it's fecking hilarious! It might be just me mind - I've got a funny sort of sense of humour on times......... Have a look at the first couple of episodes of "Still Game" on iPlayer and you'll be hooked. Just get past the initial unintelligable Glaswegian accent of the young scallies outside the local shop, and it just gets better and better! You can watch on your device or preferably on your TV if you've got the BBC iPlayer app pre-installed. Just switched to the TV and gone onto the 3rd half hour episode and I don't want the football to start again........... I don't know if this will work for you on your device, but here's a link to to the very first episode - you can automatically follow on from there, or as I said go straight to iPlayer on your TV............... https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episo...ittin?seriesId=b006qgl8-structural-1-b00w1g9y
Binged Adolescence on Netflix yesterday. Wow, really powerful. Excellent performances from the whole cast. Really makes you think about youngsters today and the influences levied on them. Well worth watching. Ideally parents to watch with their teenage children. At Silver Screen at Odeon today (for old wrinklies) to watch Wicked. Bit of a contrast.
I don't really watch much TV. A few things entice me, but with a lot things I quickly lose interest. I am watching the latest Jack Reacher series. We did sit down quite early last night and watched a film we'd recorded. Flaming Hot. Based on a true story. A bit chaotic, but interesting enough. Just popped to a local brewery and distillery. They have a shop and bar. Wanted to buy Mrs Remote one of their Gins. It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow. We don't do much present wise for Christmas and Birthdays either. Just a token to mark the occasion. I often drink their beers in pubs. They had a wide variety of other beers in bottles, so as I was there, thought it rude not to buy a variety to try.
I too binge watched Adolescence today! As you say, some stellar performances and an jntriguing subject. On a slight tangent, I have been bowled over by a book, Chasing Venus. It all started in my mind by a lecture at my alma mater given when we celebrated 50 years since graduation. The lecture involved someone reporting on his work on extra-terrestrial life forms research. He developed a sensor that is intended to measure the thickness of ice on two of Jupiter's moons. Built and eventually launched in 2018, I think, it will first send back results in 2035 but they are already developing the next study to land, drill down and sample the ocean beneath the ice....probably when he will have retired. Chasing Venus is about two experiments in 1761 and 1769 to measure the distance from earth to the sun by timing the transit of Venus across the sun from different points on Earth. The experiment was devised by a geezer in 1720 or so and he had died long before the transits actually happened. At that time Europe was at war almost constantly but science cooperation continued. Then factor in travel, communication and getting to points for measurement and it was quite an enthralling read.
10 years of owning our small holding, a couple close calls, but my first industrial injury today. Lost a fight with a half tonne concrete panel. 6 stitches and a compression bandage. To be fair, it could have been very much worse. Sat at home with my leg up and a beer. Purely for the pain of course.
I'll survive Cling. Nearly 50 stitches over the years, and these are the first that weren't rugby related.
Stay rested Remote... Convenient timing with the Wales game tomorrow... Hopefully you get waitress service to your seat in front of the TV??
Not me in the picture with them I might add.... But this definitely fits in the "away from football" thread surely??
Thanks brizzle. Not one to rest up and not going to exploit the sympathy vote. Just at our club fishery waiting for the stocking waggon. Will give fishing a miss today though.
Hoping I'll be up to it tomorrow. I'm running a tutorial at the club in the morning, so maybe sneak a few hours in afterwards. We close the area that we stock for 3-4 days after we stock to let the fish settle and spread out. They seem to be a bit stupid for a while.
