Good for Colback finally coming of age, Saito was perhaps too pumped up after his goal, I guess a learning curve for him, needs Colback's guidance?
Quite interesting if you read Clive’s ref preview thingy he mentions this guy gets a bit of flak from the crowd and doubles down. Every little bit of contact on their defenders was a foul. Good result of course. Really thought we’d nick it when Dunne broke through at the end but that’s the most bollocks we’ve shown for ages.
The proverbial game of two halves. I don't think anyone had a bad game. Few errors from Dunne and even Nardi miskicked at least one. Disappointing to be 2 nil up then draw but they're not top by luck. Frey! Thought he might need CPR at the end. Still trying to run at 95 mins! Fantastic effort. I'm very pleased to have stopped the losing streak and I would love to see the display of the first half replicated for every game!
Decent game would’ve settled for point before the match, disappointing to give up a 2 nil lead, with the team we had out a good result, could’ve nicked it the end
Yeah right at the end we had a bit of a bizarre break which Kiwi’s lady friend oddly found an offside to eventually kill it but it felt like one of those glorious moments where we’d bundle it in somehow.
Had a good game in his own unconventional way I thought. Striiujk and Rodon weren’t happy about it. Didn’t stop whinging all day.
So like of all of you...would have taken a point, would have even taken just a good performance before kick off. But we really battled. Frey was outstanding ( completely out on his feet at end), so was Saito and Anderson. Edwards ( like Field before him) was quietly effective. Our secret weapon was Smyth's long throw which caused Leeds so much angst. (Lucky for Leeds premiership clubs don't use that crude weapon!). Saito goal was outstanding. Cook's more conventional. Now onto the nitty gritty decisions. Fox og. The Leeds player never touched the ball, we could definitely see that from where we were..so it was rightly given...but did he interfer with play / was Fox aware he was storming in..and took his eye off the ball probably....it would have been harsh to disallow! Saito sending off. It looked like a second yellow to us , but apparently he caught his calf with his studs. Let's see if we appeal to get the ban down from 3 to 1 match But Leeds have the luck, we dont. Two identical goals/ no goals. Their goal. Nardi makes a save, the rebound goes to their player slots it home. Our no-goal their keeper ( Miesler? who really wasnt very good) makes a save and it rebounds to their player and Frey can't dig it out. in our promotion year ( next year?) Those balls will fall for us. Proud of my team today.
Unfortunately missed the last ten minutes but then it wouldn't have done my blood pressure any good. Fully expected a tonking today so 2-2 was a result even though we were two up. Some heroic efforts and a great atmosphere made for a really good match. Nice to end our losing run and if Leeds miss out by a point then even better...
Great atmosphere today, and so much better to get the first two goals than to give the other team a two goal head start as we have done recently. Got quite tasty in our corner of the ground as two of the Leeds subs- think it was gruev and Schmidt -stood watching the game and blocked the view from the paddock. Gruev in particular was riled, attempting to stare out his detractors in the stands and mouthing curses after he got sworn at. Various officials got involved. I think in the end Farke had to call them back to the dugout. Loftus Road doing its old fashioned best.
Just in, missed all of that so just caught the highlights https://www.skysports.com/football/...rangers-2-2-leeds-utd-championship-highlights We didn't look that outplayed by them, and had chances to steal it. Koki challenge was a bit naughty at the end
On the train on the way back. Spare a thought for me who had to sit amongst all my Leeds mates keeping quiet when we bagged!! Great game to watch and a great atmosphere all around the ground. We certainly didn't lack the effort but unfortunately did lack the quality with certain aspects of our game. Frey worked his socks off but I wouldn't want him as my main striker going into another season. At the start, I looked through the line up, didn't count the loan players and thought who I would like to stay next season. Dunne and Nardi were the only two names I came up with. Something needs to change personnel wise or it's just going to be more and more of the same. A good effort today in a season that's will be chalked off as 'nothing to see here' yet again.
I still have a bit of hope we re-sign Dunne but it’s an awful lot of experience to lose and it’ll be a huge overhaul to think about once we’re safe (we very much aren’t yet). Of the players we know will be here: Nardi (good, flawed but good) Morrison (injury prone) Jake Glass-Salter (presumed dead, might get 25 games out of him) Morgan (like him, but still very young) Varane (potential but potentially a moron) Field (historically injury prone, injured now and many would say not particularly good though I rate him) Dembele (meh) Smyth (my guy) Madsen (MADSEN) Kolli (promising, injured) Celar (injured, crap, slow) Lloyd (headless chicken) Not much of a squad which makes me think they’ll offer a year - by no means accepted - to some of the older heads just for a bit of continuity.
I'm afraid we say this every season, and we did actually spend a fair bit (to our standards) this season.
I agree, we certainly did. Varane has looked very promising, quickly adapting. Dembele started well but then obviously got injured. The less said about Celar, the better and last and certainly least, MADSEN , best suited to tag football, which may even be too physical for him!
