So if we are consitently playing 3 at the back what position do you think Dalot and Mazraoui are playing because Amad and Garnacho normally play the wings.
Are you seriously trying to turn this into a matter of perspective? To it make clear, change that to five at back if you want to add the wing backs. Either way, that system is not balanced against energetic midfields in the league which leaves the wingbacks wanting while exposing the 3 fullbacks. The rigidity of that system is suffocating for the players that I would regard as good enough professionals to win 3 of 5 matches.
You are right about the midfield bit, Casimero has been a great midfielder (in the past) but is unfortunately past it now, Eriksen is in the same catagory. We are in desperate need of a good holding midfielder (Ugarte is ok but needs someone better to help him. This has little to do with the fullbacks (wingbacks) but does put more strain on the CBs when we are pressing forward because the midfield don't hold the oppo up enough to get cover back.
I get the points. Those weaknesses are precisely where the manager needs to compensate for the lack. We can simply keep waiting and hoping for it to click. Hope is where time erodes the confidence in the team, or whatever is left of it.
3 Months mate, complete new system with no time to drill it. Give it time and let's see what next season brings because this one was a write off before Rubin came to us.
A £400 million debt that wouldn't exsist were it not for the £700 million debt already there in the background. If we aren't in debt in the first place, United can afford the transfers. Do you think that the match day revenue, commercial revenue and TV money doesn't generate enough funds? Instead, it has been paying the interest on the leveraged debt and the Glazer family yearly dividend. They put nothing in. Go look that up.
He's not hoping for it to click, it's quite clearly being worked on and the evidence of the last few games has show that defensively we have tightened up. Can only repeat what Diego said, do you not consider Mazaroui, Dalot, Dorgu to be defenders who are also supposed to attack? It is quite clearly five at back when we're out of possession, and the wing backs supplement the attack, it's not a rigid three at the back. The three are centre halves BTW, not full backs. It's such a basic premise, to say it 'doesn't work' is completely baffling. With an actual RWB this system will click nicely and it is a very attacking format with the right players. Mainoo getting fit will help the legs in midfield (Casemiro has, however, been very good last two games), but we do need an extra person in the squad for that position ultimately. Everything Radcliffe said, needed saying. Hopefully its opened some eyes to the situation.
Well, tonight was another improved performance. The players are looking like they are really starting to understand the system and are willing to put the effort in to make it a success. Lots of one touch passing and always a second option with willing runners plus the willingness to get back and defend as a team when out of possession. Get Amad and Mainoo back and with a couple (maybe three) additions in the summer and this team could get somewhere. Nice to see improvement game by game.
Heaven looked very solid at the back, very promising, and he gives the manager decent options in defence other than Maguire or Lindelof - a redy made defender rather than sticking a round peg in a square hole to make do. Where would we be without Bruno..
Another good performance last night, clear signs that they are getting on board with the new formation. Heaven very good, very assured. Mazroui has been excellent on the right of that front three, and de Ligt showing good form in the centre of it. Bruno excellent in the centre of midfield, as was Casemiro alongside him. Still think we need a long term replacement for Casemiro but with Bruno, Mainoo, Collyer and Ugarte, we no longer look too light there. Zirkzee was brilliant. Clearly an outside forward rather than a striker. A switch seemed to have been turned on in Hojlund too, he looked really sharp and less apprehensive than recently. Won't be long before he sticks a chance away, but it's Garnacho who is still not providing him with clear cut opportunities. Amad should sort that problem when he's back. The clearest supply of the evening was the chance Hojlund gave Dalot. He wasn't given any as good as that himself. This needs to be replicated in the premier league now. Leicester away is a decent opportunity to do that. Then it's a couple of weeks away to further regroup and get players fit.
