1-1. Great goal by that ex-Spurs blabbermouth Perisic tbf. Not sure where our defenders were, though.
Lewis-Skelly's ability to bring the ball down under pressure, dribble when he's been pressed and win fouls in tight areas, is excellent. Such a valuable skillset.
How has Perisic not been booked for that? Ridiculously late barge into Tierney and made no attempt to get the ball. Spurs twat.
2-1. Great run from Sterling, puts in a lovely, floated cross and Rice makes a good run to get onto the end of it. Sterling's looked ok tonight to be fair. Had a big part to play in both goals. Two assists.
Tierney takes on his fullback, puts in a floated cross that Zinchenko almost gets on the end of, but Benitez just claims it in time.
Perisic with another late foul and still no booking. Imagine my shock. You can take the man out of Spurs, but not Spurs out of the man...
Sterling...through on goal, 1v1, but Benitez saved. He's actually been pretty good tonight, but his luck in front of goal still not there.
HT. 2-1. It's been a pretty decent spectacle considering this second-leg is a formality. Chances for both teams, good attacking football and fringe players stepping up. I know the bar is in hell, but this is Sterling's best game for Arsenal so far. It's a pity he couldn't do this throughout the season.
FT. 2-2. Meh. Not a particularly great second half, had a few good chances, but also looked very exposed and open in transition. We were also sloppily giving the ball away in the middle of the park. PSV probably the marginally better team on the night, but it was effectively a meaningless game for us. No-one really stood out over the entire 90 minutes. Raya perhaps? Made some great saves especially in the second half. Anyway, now that the second leg is out the way, we're in the quarter-finals of the CL. It seems as if Atletico-Real is going to go to penalties, so let's see what happens there...
Real Madrid it is, as they beat Atletico on penalties. Not the tie I wanted, but I'm not expecting us to go through anyway. Both teams were likely to KO us regardless. May as well try to enjoy the occasion. Haven't played Real Madrid for donkeys years. So long as we make it a competitive fixture and don't allow them to batter us, I can somewhat accept a valiant defeat.
