Look i pay attention to these things and in his first preseason he was given pens to boost his start and he was henderson bad.

They will put thier hand up and that speaks to character.

But the coach should know who can take and not take.

At worst you put him at 5 last night and you are looking for senior pros to man up and go the job

As was said above. All the decent pen takers were subbed.

Players who put their hand up are grand but maybe put your hand up in the game and have your shot when it was there is more what I am thinking.

    Nunez refused a shot.
    Diaz refused a shot
    Szoboszlai refused a shot
salah pass two at goal and got blocked
Salah crossed to donarumas hands 3 times rather than shoot as well.

from quite early on it just felt to me we were quite on it but could still have won but this time the luck favoured them .

Personally I thought slot got it tactically wrong.

1st leg link up play was non existent until ironically Nunez came on. Jota had two poor games but in part it just seemed PSG were a lot more comfortable dealing with him than Nunez so I'd have gambled on Nunez starting yesterday with him being subbed for Jota. The ball generally stuck up front more with Nunez on the pitch.

However, I think under Klopp we'd have been more direct with our counters and got more shots off than we did yesterday. Too often we were too patient and allowed PSG to get men back.

I think Nunez coming on with energy when maybe space was opening up is fine. Needing a goal can see why Jota would be preferred as he’s more clinical but as you say defenders marshalled him well.

Tbh the first 10 minutes we absolutely battered them and should have been 2 up. That goal just knocked us back and I think had we kept them out for another 10 minutes we’d have got a goal or two and put the tie to bed

We paid for not taking our chances. We had the opportunity to score at least one goal. We have to be a good loser.

Better to shrug and move on. Realistically we fought in both games. Thats what we have been doing for a good part of the season so if you have to fight all the time you.eventually run out of road.

We would imo lose to real anyway so I'm going to sit back and watch villa getting spanked by psg and arsenal spanked and then will ask thr question regarding English performance in the cl over the past 5 years.

    I know.

Neither are anywhere near good enough to take on psg or real over two legs.

Silver lining is that we'll have no more distractions for the run-in after the FIBs.

Yes, but after the first leg, I think we should perhaps be reticent about emphasizing the 'luck' aspect of this tie.

Bottom line was, deservedly or not, we dominated the final 45 minutes of the 180 minutes of this tie before extra time, but, sadly, couldn't score. They will claim- rightly- that they had 90 minutes of even more dominance in Paris and didn't score, but there we were last night, deservedly or not, and it was in our hands in that 2nd half. But once it got to extra time, we were dead on our feet, and, well, the less said about the pens the better.

This team isn't as good as the teams that got to the finals in 2019 and 2022, but it is on par with the 2018 team - and we're going to win the league. We will get better next year with new signings - FSG allowing - and if we can keep Mo and Virgil, Winning the league will do me in Slot's first season - we'd all have taken that over the CL if we had to make a choice.

    Up the piss-boiling Reds. :emoticon-0165-muscl

Nonetheless, I'll support Villa and Arsenal in the CL now that we're out, even though, like yourself, I expect they'll not do brilliantly against PSG or Madrid. The only English teams I wouldn't support are Uniturd, Chelski, and City. And yes, despite Arsenal fans setting the bar higher than anyone in history this season for being the most whiny, crying bitches in Prem history.

oh don't get me wrong about thinking we were just unlucky jjust meant last night they got the rub of the green just as we did in first leg .
Both of us did warn that PSG were going to be a right handful and we were defintely proved right

I'll never support villa as they like most midland sides are the worst offenders regarding chanting offensive material.

Arsenal and the paella pulis? No thanks.

I can only see a real v barca final now. That's not to write off bayern or psg but they will need to deliver away from home

Villa are on Man City's side when it comes to PSR as I recall so not a club that I can side with.
