I'll caveat this with that it's a simplistic take from a position of very little knowledge, but: I wonder how useful these summits even are in the scheme of things. We know what needs doing, the science is all there, and the world seems to put loads of time and effort into debating and posturing about taking action but seemingly not so much effort goes into actually taking any action.

Terrible. It's because of things like this why ppl vote for Trump, hate the media and are cynical about anything that politicians and government scientists publish.

Why would they hate the media for bringing these things into the open? We wouldn’t have heard about it otherwise.

Extending the airport to double the number of passengers. But if we build one runway and don’t achieve net zero our less than 1% of the world’s emissions will destroy the planet and be responsible for the end of civilisation.

Most 'environmental' conferences are sponsored by gulf states or energy companies.....bit like an abbatoir sponsoring a vegetarian trade show

It isn't a good look for sure but to put some context to it the Amazon is losing around 10k acres daily due to logging, soya production, cattle farming and stuff so this road really is a drop in the ocean. What's more bothersome, imo, is what happens afterwards. It could be left to be swallowed up by the forest or, more likely, it kicks off a load more development along it consuming even more forest.
And I'm not sure COP conferences do much good anyway although I'd rather we had them than nothing at all.

    Bonkers.

Surely you use it whilst it's in excess and stop when it isn't.

This is simplistic but as a general rule there surely should be much more thought put into reducing the amount of stuff shipped around the world. It should be disincentivised so that it isn't cheaper to ship the same thing from across the world that you could've got locally.

Wigan's wind turbine production plant is to close, due to high energy costs.

It's a fibre glass plant, it supplies fibre glass for wind turbines, rather than actually making wind turbines.

One of issues they had, is that Siemens built their own fibre glass plant for the their wind turbines, right here in sunny Hull.

I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make. They make many components for EV's and renewables and are not especially in competition with Siemens, I put turbines for brevity and it changes nothing at all from what I posted.

The Siemens plant at Hull was originally going to be in Spain, but the Spanish Government wouldn't commit to their long term needs, which is ironic given their over reliance on renewables contributed to their recent blackouts.
