Yeah, it's why I don't get the criticism that we extended the contracts of the likes of Arma & Stephens in the summer just gone, as going down again, they are absolutely players you'd want around, so certainly made sense for the club to prepare for that eventuality.
yeah probably right but I was only worrying about what might happen. Regardless we aren’t an attractive proposal at the moment. We are looking at another top to bottom rebuild of playing staff, coaching staff and style. The powers that be got it right last time with RM hopefully they get it right again.
Danny Rohl can motivate and change things to get a team to come back from 2 - 0 down to win 2 - 3 away from home against a decent team. A box ticked
Must admit I am a little concerned to see Danny Rohl going for 3 CB yesterday... one of them being Shea Charles
No problem doing it for specific reasons, tactics, etc. Not being flexible & adapting to the opponent has been our problem for a while. He got the win tho so I suppose his tactics worked?
Think he changed things at half time when they were 2 down. So it didn't work, but he recognised it wasn't working and changed things - which is great. My comment was more tongue in cheek about playing a CM at the back!
Hang on a minute! You mean he adapted his tactics according to the opposition and the current score? What is this witchcraft?
I'd almost forgotten managers were allowed to do that. I can't actually recall the last time we had this at Saints, even Ralph, as much as I rate him, was one dimensional.
Saints manager application form question 4: ‘Do you have a plan B’ (if yes, the exit is down the corridor on the left)
When we signed Charles, it was said that he could play CB if necessary. RM even played him there a couple of times early on last season.
Yeah I get that I just didn't see him as a CB at all really. We should have plenty of options there next season anyway so shouldn't be the need hopefully.
