The nonsense at the end cost us that game, any stoppage now seems to be an excuse for players wandering over to the touchline for a cup of tea, plot was certainly lost last night, but for those having a pop all teams waste time and slow the game down. We did you a favour we got the crowd back for you and got you a point.
Anyway good luck for the rest of the season although think you'll have to play better than you did last night

Very poor and predictable excuse mate.

Preston were disgraceful and I’ve gone from wanting you to win the FA Cup to hoping that you’re humiliated …

… I’d be ashamed if Sunderland ever stooped that low.

Your motto is ‘Proud Preston’, well you certainly took a shyte all over that …

… nothing to be proud of.

Because its not the problem at all imo, Watson, Jobe, Dan , and Roberts were the problems last night, if we are hell bent on playing 4/3/3 with the players at our disposal that is a problem. Maybe instead of pointing out problems we can all see, suggest what alternatives you think are available with the current squad Its a forum not a lecture.

Almost executed the perfect game plan until that mess at the end that nicked us a point, there’s slowing a game down then there’s that, still hope yous get to Wembley though don’t mind Preston and would be good to see a championship side have a good cup run 2 years on the bounce

Dan was absolutely phenomenal against Sheff Wed. Lets no rewrite history.

He struggled last night as they overloaded us in midfield, he was decent after switched back.

We all said Reg should ‘try some things’ on the run in there’s no value in getting pissy when he does.

A lot asked for 4-4-2 and it didn’t work, it’s clear that we have an edge with Wilson and Mayenda on park so Mayenda either goes in Roberts spot, which would cost us defensively, or as a false 9/10 (where he could be a sensation)

Sadly it’s the modern game time wasting even some of ours who inhabit the war zone that is PNE Online were annoyed by that last night but the authorities make it easy for the players

i know some on here were less than impressed which I can understand but it annoys me as well

Yep. All started with their defender faking a head injury, then getting up with no punishment for stopping a very good attacking position for us. He should’ve been yellowed the moment he got up. Then the debacle that was the drop ball. And the sub. And the lad not going off who had been subbed (another standard yellow card offence) and the number 44 should’ve too. Disgraceful ref performance and disgraceful from Preston.

But. Had they not done that, I don’t think we score! Their antics riled our players enough for that

Sorry even more pissed off now I have read Heckingbottom blaming the officials for our equaliser - I am sorry mate but you and your team were an embarrassment in that 6-7 minutes and ultimately it probably and (deservedly for the antics) cost you a win

Good point Gordon, the atmosphere is dictated by what we see on the pitch, when the performance is flat it tends to mean a flat atmosphere. Sometimes it just needs a strong tackle or a decision against us but last night was difficult on and off the pitch.

It wasn’t the time wasting so much as the manner of it, it was actually embarrassing.

I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever seen it so blatant and badly managed by a referee.

That said, it really did annoy our lads to the point we had a burst after it and scored.

    It was ****ing cringeworthy though.

Never seen anything like that, how many players pretended to be injured, should be fined for it, blatant cheating, its not the first time we have had to play against a team with an extra man on the pitch, the FA deemed it ok last time

Well my cousin went to the game last night with his 11 year old daughter. Sat in the family stand and bought a £2 ticket for competition I assume they run every home game.

He only went and won it. Got her name on the scoreboard. His daughter and him (I'll call him jammy twat) met all the players after the game, I assume in the reception area. I've had photos sent to me this morning, obviously I can't post them on here. He said all players were dead good with his daughter, chatted and had photo. Not jealous much.

Who’s lecturing? If you can’t handle discussion don’t post a thought.

Neil and Jobe had an impossible task in that 442, no support in front of them, their nearest pass was each other all night and got outnumbered by Preston’s midfield three

we had no out ball where Rigg would be deeper because Mayenda plays high. When the ball got to the wingers that you say were poor they were 3 Preston players against the winger and fullback every time, outnumbered again, because the midfield wasn’t there to support as it could in the 433.

they had poor games but had an impossible task.

If we can all see the problems you’ll realise the system and tactics were wrong

We watched that sort of cheating for 4 years and frankly we have absolutely no time for it at all. The club should be fined. Blaming the Ref is deflection your management team made no attempt to sort it out and looked to happy with it .Please go and join league 1 if thats what your team like to play ..As for your manager and assistant all game they were going on like lunatics and at one point Higginarse smashed the dugout he needs a ban .. f him.

Yet most people on here were all for the starting eleven before the game last night, obviously they were all wrong ? , last night was poor I agree but we have struggled at home since well before Xmas using 4/3/3 imo . Just to blame 4/4/2 and revert back to 4/3/3 could have been the answer but maybe switching to 3/5/2 might have done the trick last night who knows. Good or Bad Its football , and there is no one size fits all formula.

First of all, dont worry people.

I didn't get to see this game live due to work. I know we were **** because everyone has said so. One lad said we were worse than Hull at home.

On the day of the game, I really thought it'll be 0-0, 1-1 or wed lose 1-0. Preston have been our kryptonite this season. By the sounds of it, they dug their own grave instead of coming after us. We should be grateful, but even then it's took what is arguably the goal of our season to score.

I liked the line up, I said before the game "it'd be nice to see the two strikers". I hear calls of "4-4-2 doesn't work these days" and "they can't play together" about Mayenda and Isidor, but by all accounts it was the application and not the formation that let us down. Not enough pressing? I was told, which is the story of our season when it comes to our shortfallings.

That said, when I expected a **** game last night, I also wasn't too bothered simply because of our position. I didn't expect both Burnley and Sheff Utd to slip up, so it hurts more due to that, but my thought process was simply "resting players, giving players minutes, perfect".

Reg i think has learned a lot these past few months.

Is it too simplistic to have Wilson playing against the top sides because he can score worldies and to have Elizer playing against against the ‘lesser’ teams because he can score normal ordinary goals.

    Rigg looked better last night.
Tommy needs a couple of U21 games to get up to speed.
    Cirkin looked better.
    Roberts and Mundle looked good.
    Overall we were poor.

I think those places that give the player ratings should include the Manager.
I wonder what RLB would score out of 10, I would give a 6 for last night.

A lot of the people on the forum have been crying out for RLB to play two up front and he eventually caved in and it cost us , their midfield outplayed ours and it really should have been changed at halftime at the latest .Personally I would have replaced Roberts with Browne who is a bit more physical in the middle of the park though to be fair Roberts did play a bit better than of late , all in all it was a bad day at the office . The antics of Preston were a disgrace and they got their just desserts by way of Mundle splendid equaliser which was out of place in such a game .Bottom line is play a system that suit us and stick to your guns RLB .

I still think our best formation yesterday would have been our "normal" formation but with Mayenda playing the Rigg role. This happened occasionally but too often he went fully up front with Isidor, which didn't work.

Mayenda is brilliant at getting the ball deep and driving at the defence. In many ways he's similar to Morgan Rogers in that regard. I'd have liked to see him starting from a deeper position.
