Hull City are understood to have appealed the red card handed to Joao Pedro in the first half of Saturday’s thrilling 1-1 draw at Bristol City. Pedro was dismissed by referee James Linington seconds after his wonderful goal had given City a deserved lead at Ashton Gate with that game-changing intervention coming just 14 minutes in.
I saw this graph. I think given his relatively shaky start and the fact he’s had a couple of poor performances. I’d say this is pretty good for him.
I doubt it gets done in time for Oxford. It may get a decision before West Brom but I wouldn’t hold your breath
Been reported that we never got the chance to speak with the ref at Half time (the ref refused) or post game (the ref had left within the allotted time allowed to speak with the official) Bit dodgy
We can confirm that our appeal against João Pedro’s red card has been unsuccessful. João will now miss our next three league matches.
I didn’t think they’d repeal it entirely. Maybe reduce it to one game. They obviously didn’t see it as frivolous enough to add an additional game but clearly they agreed with the ref’s report that it was serious foul play.
A clear message emerges from this, especially for a certain type of player: if you commit to a two-footed challenge, you might as well make full contact with your opponent—since the punishment will be the same either way.
As posted yesterday - 'Decision outcomes on the appeal include upholding, overturning, reducing, or extending the player's ban'.
Absolutely - dived in, both feet off the ground, no control. Absolutely nailed on red card. Stupid by player and risky appeal by club with no chance of success. I'm surprised there hasn't been an additional game ban.
That's not only an awful conclusion its also untrue. You've just seen the Millwall keeper have his ban extended from 3 to 6 games for making contact with another absolutely reckless challenge. And what exactly do you mean 'a certain type of player'. It was two footed, off the ground, no control and entirely reckless - nailed on red card, standard 3 game ban, rules applied fairly.
