Brentford’s centre-half just did a tackle that was more dangerous than Pedro’s and VAR agreed with the on-field decision of a yellow card. There’s just no consistency. For what it’s worth, I think Pedro’s was reckless but the fact he pulled out of the tackle means he wasn’t endangering an opponent. If the red card is upheld, it’s a one-match ban at best. The ref couldn’t wait to penalise us but gave Brizzle so much leeway. The penalty was soft, he booked Sellés and his assistant, booked Alzate for time-wasting etc. but their player crunched Alzate in the second half to prevent a breakaway by us and not even a yellow. The guy was an absolute joke and the fat **** couldn’t even be on time for the second half.
Jones had his arms around the player when the Bristol City player looked to go down, and that was the view the ref got, so although very very soft at best, and the fact that the ref is a ****, I can see why he gave it.
I agree—we should definitely appeal. The referee was an absolute mess, but sadly I have no confidence that justice will be done. That said, I’m sure we won’t embarrass ourselves like Pearson did a couple of years ago when we got that soft penalty through Tetteh. He went on about it for weeks—close to blubbing even said he was considering quitting.
Seemingly (from Bristol board) this sam referee has sent 4 Bristol City players off in the times he has refereed them, but never an opponent and had never given them a penalty.
Yeah, I remember. Acts like this football hard man then threw a tantrum saying he might quit football because a decision went against him
Might be wrong but if we appeal it will take longer than Wednesday to hear the appeal and we get to play him on Wednesday. I think we will appeal as there wasn't contact and the band might get reduced from 3 games
Just heading back to London after a nervy but thrilling afternoon. **** me, the referee and Scott Twine ended level pegging in the silly **** race today.
Totally agree he is a class goalkeeper and cannot understand why he never got a chance last season. His early season form made the signing of Rushworth strange and a waste of a loan spot which could have been used better elsewhere.
In fairness to Liam, the weakest part of Pandur’s game is his distribution and decision making with the ball at his feet which was a massive of part of what he needed a keeper to do in that system, I get why he never got a chance. We signed Rushworth because he’s a class keeper and Pandur had just had a stinker of a pre-season. But credit to Pandur he’s stuck at it and done well, he definitely has areas to improve on but at 24 he’s young for a keeper and could push on to be a top player.
We're going over old ground but maybe Pandur played in training like he did in preseason and when you're pushing for promotion halfway through a season isn't the time to give a new keeper time to bed in. Preseason i was one of Pandurs biggest critics and often feel he gets over hyped by some fans but today he was brilliant and easily MOM
To come away with a point was hugely impressive, particularly as the ref seemed to have a something against us. As I said earlier, it felt like we were playing 12 men. I thought the sending off was harsh, and the penalty very soft, as it looked as if the 2 players just fell over each other. Pandur was first class, as were the back 4, this backline is working very well. Credit to Ruban who moves Kamara over to help Macca. Pedro's goal was just brilliant, Puerta's ball to Kamara, and then Pedro's turn from Kamara's pass a sight to behold. With Pedro's sending off, really the ref robbed the game of a player that would have made the game a much more even contest,or dare I say after the first 15 minutes, we were the much better side. Again, Ruban's subs were spot on, bring on Egan and latterly Drameh, certainly made a back line hard to breakdown. From 1-11 and the subs every one of them put a shift in, another point, and onto Wednesday, with the hope we can chalk up another home win.
What no one has mentioned on the red card is that Pedro took an age to leave the pitch, depending on what's in the referee's report he could face a charge for that. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Pedro always seems to score on the same day that Brighton's João Pedro also scores. I keep noticing that happen.
