Damn, I wish Palmer would release the ball quickly sometimes, just had a perfect opportunity to start a counter attack!
Can somebody please tell Delap that he doesn't have to take every damn shot! So many times it would be better if he passed it.
Just not quite good enough again. Made some decent chances but nothing to show for it. 2v1 with Clarke and Enciso but Clarke's pass wasn't good enough, chance wasted. Delap taking shots when a pass was a better option. Johnson back post header, missed. 90th minute free kick just put behind and out of play by Phillips. Palmer not throwing the ball out early at times is frustrating to watch. It's all just nearly moments and the games are ticking on by. Not giving up hope yet, but it doesn't look like we'll survive the drop.
Gutted but quite simply we are not good enough for this level yet. Established teams have better and more in depth squads
McK was going to swap Davis for Townsend and then the goal for Palace came and he changed his mind and went with Taylor and Hirst to try and get something from the match. Personally, I thought Davis was not getting good balls into the box and Townsend would've still been a decent change to make if you're looking to score a goal. At the moment, we're producing no chances from wide positions.
Plenty of huff and puff, but lack of quality. Need to take our chances. Hopefully Everton beat Wolves to keep us in the conversation, but we are going through a torrid period after the glimpse of positivity we had after the Chelsea win and Fulham draw. I’m not convinced we’ll do enough to stay up even if Wolves keep losing. On a side note, we are absolutely terrible at set pieces. We need to make the most of corners and free kicks - when we get them - but the delivery and tactics for them just isn’t working. As others have said, left side looking like a problem. I think there’s a strong argument for starting Townsend and Broadhead down that side against Forest.
I thought we played pretty well today and defense looked solid, with more astonishing Palmer saves- but so often this season we have competed well, even been the better side for spells, and not come away with any points. It was a good team effort, but we have to accept that we are just not quite good enough for the Prem. We don't use the ball well, often losing it casually giving the oppos chances to freely counter. I too echo others views, we must start with Townsend, Leif's ridiculous pass back had me leaping out the chair! In truth while the majority of the clear chances were Palace's, we didnt convert our 15 shots, of which 8 were on target! For all his strengths, tbh Delap is wasteful and just blasts away. Sadly, while I enjoyed today, it is games like today are why we will almost certainly be heading back down. Lets hope the team will be stronger for the Prem experience and Gamechanger and KM stay with us. Luke Woolfenden was my man of the match.
With wolves getting a point, that’s a 6 point difference (7 if you include goal difference). That means for any hope of survival we will have to put together successive wins which I don’t see happening. However, even though we’ve been losing a lot this season, I’ve still enjoyed it. Seeing the best players coming to PR and in most games, being competitive. We have to look at teams like Bournemouth, Brighton and even Forest as a blueprint for the future. As with all promoted teams, it’s all about staying up that 1st season and maybe we’ve been a little naive in certain games. I still trust the process and the journey we’ve been on especially if you compare the last 3 years with the previous 20
