Mind, doing virtually all of your 3 year loss 'allowance' in one year makes it very hard for them to operate in the following two seasons. Not many champ clubs make profits and they'll have to do more than sell Fellowes to close that gap - even just for one year.
It is nearly all attributable to the loss of tv money. Presumably parachute payments have run out. This is where I think FFP is barmy tbh. In a lot of modern business they show huge losses year on year. For many that isnt really the concern, if their balance sheet is strong. In football clubs players are classed as assets and have a value. I think we need a change which factors in assets for FFP. West Brom arent really financially at risk, which is one of the key reasons for FFP. They have some high value youngsters on their books. But the league applies half arsed rules.
. They may not be at risk but their wages to income ratio is horrendous, the worst in the Championship. I'd certainly be concerned if that was Sunderland.
That's what Stoke did, gambled on last season & gave the snake money which he wasted. Now they aren't in the position to spend their way out of trouble, with few sellable assets to help them out.
Burnley fans raving about Marcus Edwards. Started 3 games and they’ve scored 4, 4 and 2 in those games having struggled to get more than 1 before that. Not sure it’s quite realised quite how much of a game changer he’d have been for us had that come off.
Apparently we made a very good offer for Edwards but it came down to personal relationship. Can't argue too much as we did similar with ELF.
Think it shows the club are very very particular with players they sign and the finances have to be right someone odd to be linked heavily with him and then not target another right winger, unless as stated, they have to fit parameters fair really
I think it says something about where we are now as a club to be looking at signing players of this calibre.
A massive week ahead for all clubs 3rd v 6th and 2nd v 7th on Tuesday are ideal fixtures for us. Teams in and around dropping points (likely to be those below and we go closer to securing POs)
Cracking report on the BBC website about how the Leeds, Sheffield Utd and Burnley battle for the top 2 will go to the wire. We are the absolute outsiders but I hope we shut them all up.
Do a Steve Cram and zoom past them on the outside as the line draws near. Tough, tough ask but who knows?
I’ve got a feeling all 4 sides at the top drop points this week… Leeds v Millwall QPR v Leeds Sheff United v Bristol City Sheff Wed v Sheff United Burnley v West Brom Swansea v Burnley Sunderland v Preston Coventry v Sunderland
Hull 0-1 Luton Watford 0-0 Plymouth In the early kick offs. Huge win for Luton that, the relegation scrap is very tight and interesting.
Leeds are in trouble here, Burnley and Sheff Utd have really picked up recently while they are seemingly crumbling. I had them crowned champions after they won at Sheff Utd, now they are in danger of finishing 3rd.
I see that Meslier was at fault again, did save a pen though. If they had just an average Championship GK they'd be 10 points clear.
This is where coaches come to the fore. Be interesting to see which one can have the biggest influence now. Wilder is very very good tactically, and can really influence games from the touchline. Leeds have a better squad but is Farke up to it? Parker wont change his take on his Burnley squad now. He is one of the calmest around. Going to be interesting watching the three of them. If I had a pick from the 3 it would be Wilder to finish the job.
Farke continually starting Meslier is going to cost him promotion and his job. It's not like Darlow is a bad keeper either.
Farke is quite a gung ho manager. He will throw attackers around and his teams will score plenty. I just never think his teams have a lot of control. I obviously dont know but I sense Meslier is liked for his distribution abilities. But he too often looks nervous.
