When I was about 10 we had a teacher who was an absolute bully, looking back now I'd call him a masochist, he laced into boys with a size 12 plimsole at any excuse, he enjoyed making young boys cry and I admit I was one of them on more than one occasion. Never went home and say owt to my parents cos he'd must have had good reason. Completely different from the subject matter....sorry.
I believe a parent should have the right to correct their child within reason. However I also understand that some people who are 'parents' have a predisposition to violence and don't act within reason. So a blanket ban makes sense. I honestly thought this was already the case.
I would rather be punched in the face than moaned at by the wife for days on end. Mental torture is far more severe and longer lasting.
You're not allowed to stab people, you're not allowed to steal other people's mobile phones, you're not allowed to take class A drugs like cocaine, you're not allowed to riot. I was going to say you're not allowed to shoplift but it seems young people can do it with impunity nowadays
I was semi-regularly clipped round the lug hole - and mostly deserved it ( I remember tickling Mrs Stewarts buttocks with a stingy nettle as she sat on the outside netty) and my Dad then slapping my backside. I remember misbehaving at school and my maths teacher giving the strap 4 times across the backside. I also remember getting caned for things I hadn't done - that's the bit I resented and did damage. Not long lasting but the damage was I reused to give my all to those teachers who dished it out freely just because they could without rules and guidelines. I have never hit my own kids btw
