You can only debate what is in your own head and not what anyone else says. It is really boring.

Everyone deals with things in their own way.
As I said in my post, his comments were making me frustrated, angry and pissed off, which was affecting my mental happiness, so I took a leaf out of Nigel Adkins’ list of quotes and decided to control the controllables by using the block.
As I also said, it won’t work for everyone, but it has worked for me.

It’s a difficult issue to solve. But there has to be a way to solve it that isn’t “discriminate against even more people” which is what they’re currently trying to do. For me it should be an absolute meritocracy.
Best person for any role gets it, regardless of anything else.

Well put. The Trump/Musk presidency can't be trusted. Giving the DOGE dogs, or 'kids' as they are known, hired without vetting, access to classified information and sensitive personal data is the subject of multiple lawsuits concerning its downsizing of USAID, privacy and security concerns related to its accessing of computer systems and records across the government, its refusal to make its own records public, and Musk's authority. Musk has been the target of a subpoena attempt.

Legal experts have described many of DOGE's actions as illegal, breaking multiple privacy, security, and congressional laws and regulations. It has been described as taking a "move fast and break things" approach. Legal analysts have alleged breaches of law regarding aspects of the Privacy act, Internal Revenue Code and the Federal Information Security Modernization Act. Forcing workers out of their offices and claims of "deleting" agencies and seizure of funds authorized by Congress have been described as breaking Article 1 of the United States Constitution.

Well right now the 7% of the population benefit from the advantages of private schooling and have an incredible advantage in the job market. That is not a meritocracy. That is a class system.

I was going to raise the topic of names on application forms.
I think some people are campaigning for application forms to be submitted without names, colour and gender to prevent people being blocked from interviews simply because their name implies a foreigner or a person from an ethnic minority group.
I think an Oxford University survey showed that white people receive positive responses to applications on a 1:4 ratio but people from ethnic minority groups are at 1:7.
It’s quite clear that job applications are subjected to discrimination.

There is no class system, at least not in the way you mean.

There are countless examples of people from all walks of life being incredibly successful in the UK.

You can go from the worst, most deprived areas of the country to being multimillionaires if you work hard.

This is not the case in many countries globally or throughout history.

It's funny, I used to have these debates with one of my tutor groups when I was teaching. A group of 15 year old boys at the time (I'm honestly not labelling you as anything based on their age) who would jump to everything as being set against them as a group of mainly white, privileged and wealthy young men, never seeing the irony. They would wave their Jordan Peterson videos at me and claim that the world was prejudiced against white men, never seeing the irony in what they were doing.

The playing field is slowly levelling and maybe as a white man (massive assumption!) that feels like others have precendence. Many of these laws are in place because of decades or centuries of ingrained prejudice. These lads would argue that there is no gender pay gap, that women are just as likely to get top jobs as men, that if you are black you have the same chance of being stopped by police as a white person, that your sentence for a crime will be less etc. All things that are demonstrably false, but with headlines talking about measures to reduce the poor/rich divide, reduce racial, sexual, religious prejudice, I suppose it felt like things had swung the other way. They could also have been winding me up because they knew I cared about it!

There will definitely be mistakes and misjudgements from trying to level playing fields, it is battling against belief systems and confirmation bias and that's hard. I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure there's good research about us inheriting our belief systems from our parents at a pretty early age and things barely changing after that.

All that said, children after divorce continues to be contentious and I would agree that it isn't always fair and is often biased towards the Mother, though I haven't seen or read anything about this since Fathers for Justice were in the news, so I may be way out of date.

The biggest factors for individual success are your parents’ level of wealth, where you live, and what your parents do. We absolutely do live in a class system.

You can, but it's pretty nailed on that your income is linked to the people you went to school with. Obviously exceptions to the rule as always.

    1. Archers and no7 are both banned for a week, as it was their first offence in both cases.

Seems like I found the ignore button at the right time.

Something I’ve always stuck by, and has never let me down - if it seems like it’s everybody else, it’s probably you.

Chilco has banned the offenders, not sure what point you're trying to make here?
