I agree mate I love how Darwin plays and we don’t ever see him play where I think he would be best either
We will need that version of Trent for this long run in, he was outstanding. I really hope he takes pride in that performance and switches on when we’re under the cosh in future games. if you don’t want to keep getting hooked for Bradley (when fit) later in games then you have to prove you can be trusted when it’s looking edgy
Psg really did miss some.sitters first half. Thry could walk through and thry just. Did a salah. Dithered or failed to pick the right killer pass to make sure of the goal. The first two I think thry field to even shoot. The third was a terrible effort that Bounced in.
They had 27 shots, but an xg of only 1.7, so it would indicate that they didn't have clear chances. The one that he hit into the ground was, as you say, a sitter.
Xg is a **** stat as it falls to take a lot of positions into account. There were several times they were straight in and either failed to pick the right pass or were too slow on it. Our xg was 0. I saw at least 3 we should have scored and totally messed up. Jota first half was in if he kept it and fired it in. Szoboszlai in a 4 on 3 passes to salah then the danger pas sis to diaz. Salah grossly underhits pass to nunez. None are counted. Psg not only has 27 shots they had 4 massive opportunities to score first half Most importantly the width of a boot cost them their goal and if that stood it would have been a landslide. Fine margins.

Just watched the highlights - seven minutes of PSG attacking and 30 seconds of Elliot's goal. That said, for all their chances in the first half, after half-time there weren't many major chances, more pot shots from distance or tight angles. Was very impressed with Allison in the 83rd though when he had to palm the shot and, with three or four PSG players around him, had the presence of mind to deliberately palm it to somewhere safe, like a cricket batter finding the gap. Lovely moment for Elliot as well. Just hope we perform better on Tuesday (and Saturday).
The 2nd leg is by no means a forgone conclusion. While you can legitimately criticise our midfield yesterday, PSGs midfield were brilliant. Fabian Ruiz has always played well against us even for Napoli. In defence Nuno Mendes made one mistake all game which was the goal. Having said that, the opportunities to break on them were there and a Liverpool side somewhere near their best takes one of those opportunities before the 87th minute.
When you win, when you're not playing well, It shows that you are playing as a team . We played as a team yesterday because everyone was a defender.
It’s not a **** stat. It gives an indication on the type of chances in the game. It has to be used alongside other things to be super meaningful but from 27 shots to get an xg of 1.7 shows that you the majority of them were shots that you’d only score once in 50
So far this season Liverpool have beaten the reigning champions of England (twice), Germany, Spain and France without conceding a single goal.
It's not really a case of whether you think it's a red or not. It's whether you think it was a foul or not. If it was a foul, then he had to go with him being the last man and denying a goal scoring opportunity. It was definitely a foul imo, we'd be screaming blue murder if it was the other way around.
It's subjective. It only builds on shots and shots on target with a subjective view. When you.watch thr gsme yourselves you.can see.many moments where a player decision or mistake ends an opportunity thst should be a far bigger chance and that's totally ignored. As I said 0 xg for lfc prior to the goal is not reflective of reality. We actually had a few positions where we were suddenly all the way through onto their last line in space as they were so pushed on but through some absolutely rank play we failed to convert. I counted 3 thet on another day we convert never mind just have a shot. There were also 3 or 4 where psg just compeltey walked through us and dithered and those don't get counted either. Lfc were bad and that's just fine, no issue l. We just were but we fought on and got a reward because we finally didn't mess up the break. Psg has 27 shots, some were close, some were save and some were blazed over but their xg was also too low. They had several chances thst really really should have been goals but they messed up. The 27 shots don't even reflect the goals they let go by by dithering.
The second leg is on a tighter pitch and at anfield so it'll be a ding dong. Psg clearly have the quality but we can put them on their arses and see if thry have the bottle to come back away from home. The thing will be about momentum. If we can just break them early they might just be young and naive enough to give up. They looked absolutely shocked for the last 5 to 7 minutes after the goal. People on here were talking about getting a second goal live. If we can get anfieod on them hopefully it helps us.
You are right. They seemed to check for pen first and then red card and as the ref said no they were not inclined to change his view. If he pulled a red then they were not saving konate. It's another example of subjective decision making We got lucky.
