I would suggest that whether he is actually in Putin's pocket or not, his actions are those of someone that is. So it doesn't make any difference really. And all this when we *might* have been approaching a time that Russia would have to give up in Ukraine. I don't mean that they get defeated on the battlefield, but simply cannot sustain the war any longer. All we had to do was keep Ukraine supplied, all Ukraine has to do is survive and the Russian economy might have imploded. So Ukraine wins by not losing. But the cavalry has come to the rescue (of the wrong side).
I think there is one objective in which Trump might actually be successful. I think he may cut down on border crossings and illegal migration. This is because he is making the US such a horrendous place to live, no illegal migrants will want to go there. NB one particular lie that annoys me because it is so obviously a lie is that he keeps claiming the US has given Ukraine about $350 billion (and Europe has given $100 billion). But its a lie, even from US official sources. It's more like $120 billion, and Europe as a whole has given *more* than that. Also, a large amount of military aid is in the form of limited shelf life items that would have had to be replaced anyway, even if never used.
I wonder if the polls are against him he will find some way to suspend the election (there's probably some obscure piece of legislation not indented for that purpose which can be used). I think that is also indicated after his "bad reaction" to losing last time, in which he seems to have encouraged an insurrection. At the very least, if he loses he won't accept it. Similarly he'd probably find some way of getting round Article 5 if Russia invaded a NATO member. Because if he thinks Ukraine started this war he can probably interpret an invasion of a NATO member as some kind of self-defence measure after that member's aggression. I think NATO is on thin ice at the moment. Also weird how quickly the Americans have forgotten who the enemy was during the Cold War.
The 25th Amendment is always going to hang over him, as long as the Democrats don't **** up the midterms ...so the Democrats are going to **** up the midterms, aren't they?
Centre-right French Senator Claude Malhuret's take on the US: https://bsky.app/profile/adamjschwarz.bsky.social/post/3ljndbmndys2o "Washington has become Nero’s court, with an incendiary emperor, submissive courtiers and a jester high on ketamine... We were at war with a dictator, we are now at war with a dictator backed by a traitor." Can't say that I disagree with any of that.
It's in the constitution that he can't and needs a 2/3 majority to change it. Now he might declare martial law and suspend elections?

You could also have had Sian Lloyd and some random Bulgarian woman who ran away from him. He's been fully Putin apologist for years now, having cosied up to a Russian billionaire. What a coincidence, eh?
Will we see Mar a largo in flames one day and the White House attacked? People will only take so much.
