Have you fact checked this as Musk is an idiot. From what I can find online this was a series of studies trying to find out why aids is more likely in trans women. So the ways these quotes have been cut explain the treatments needed for the study but are lying about their purpose.

Do you accept you have been misled?

As suspected, if you just actually do a little bit of research, like asking Grok. I mean, checking what health effects such drugs have on people who have been administered (or may be administered these drugs), such as susceptibility to certain diseases, fertility etc is SUCH a terrible idea. I mean, caring for people. Bah. How awful.

    Purpose Overview
The overarching purpose of these grants, as inferred from the sources, was to use animal models to study the biological and health effects of gender-affirming hormone therapies, which are commonly used in human transgender healthcare. Researchers aimed to address gaps in understanding how hormones like testosterone or estrogen affect physiology (e.g., fertility, drug metabolism, disease risk) in a controlled setting, given ethical and practical limits on human studies. Critics, including Musk and DOGE, argue these experiments were wasteful, cruel, and unnecessary, leveraging societal trends like DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) for funding rather than advancing critical human health outcomes.

I would find it less depressing if there weren’t tens of thousands of people like him, who accept the word of influencers without fact checking and complain the media lies.

Honestly, when I go to X I feel my IQ dropping by about ten points every minute I spend there. Its radicalising effect is terrifying.

I read an interesting study recently about people who are prone to believing conspiracy theories and more outlandish claims. It was pretty sad actually, but makes a lot of sense.

They found that in a majority of cases, there was an unresolved reinforced micro-trauma from childhood, where the person believed themselves to be intelligent (whether or not that was the case) but that their intelligence growing up wasn't recognised. Therefore they were drawn to things like conspiracy as adults, as it gave them the opportunity to be able to believe and state that they were more intelligent than normal people, because they were able to see patterns and events differently. Of course, the conspiracies encourage this by calling other people "sheep" and claiming that those "in the know" were the much vaunted "critical thinkers" in comparison to others. It also gave them the opportunity to say things akin to "see, I am clever", and therefore resolving that early trauma, by coming back and claiming "I was right all along" as some kind of dominion over what everyone else was thinking.

    Made a lot of sense.

X has really reinforced to me how genuinely stupid a lot of people are, regurgitating the same lines over and over even when clearly disproven. So many racists who say they are patriots but who talk the country down constantly. Also, what is patriotic about supporting Trump if you are British? They have holes in their brains.

Some are just dickheads and contrarians who do it to get attention and cause a row.
Perhaps that's caused by childhood trauma too but it might just be boredom

The safety of Musk and Vance is an interesting point if you have read Mary Beard's recent book about the Roman emperors which has a chapter about security.

Don't really think we will see any assassinations but expect X to go conspiracy theory crazy when Trump pops his clogs through natural causes.

I think Musk will come under scrutiny for fraud at some point although I think it will be 2 terms before the Democrats get their act together.

I so think Trumpism will possibly outlast Donald. Just think that this is probably the most drastic sea change in politics since 1917. Not just an issue in US but popularism is the new norm throughout the developed world . I agree with Os that Trump is a visionary but I think he will be a catastrophic disaster regardless of the negative press and media coverage. As I said this morning, he is another Nero

So you think spending millions of pounds on these sorts of experiments is a good way to spend taxpayer money?

To be clear; are there any experiments on animals and children that you think would be too far? Or are you just up for mutilating anything/anyone?

If you answer his question first, he might be more inclined to answer yours back. It’s how discussion works.

To be clear, you're objecting to experiments aimed at reducing AIDS? Or is this an objection to all vivisection? Given that both your and other posts didn't relate to experiments on children, that would just be hyperbole?

I think everyone else has answered you, Os. I am a vegetarian and not really keen on experiments on animals at all. However, they are still fairly common in medical research and I don’t believe being trans means you specifically don’t deserve medical consideration.

I guess I am saying kindness and love are better for the world than hating everyone who doesn’t fit your narrow view of existence.

How do you guys feel about today’s revelation in parliament that white men are now being discriminated against by UK law?

Thought it was quite an interesting discussion

Your assumption about people who don’t eat meat is a good marker for a bigot.

And yeah, I saw this and don’t like it at all. I would like to see it explained but I cannot find a clip of the debate that includes the response in parliament.

Oh, and do you ever engage or is it always throw out another gotcha question? You still haven’t responded to my question about being deliberately misdirected by Musk.
