Thought first half was as expected, enjoyed second half though . Showed we are a better side then them and a well deserved victory in the end .
Pedro put a proper shift in. Was getting checked off the ball and a bit left on him from the centre half all game. Got one just before the second goal and he turned and looked straight at him as if to say "is that all you've got?". 10 seconds later the ball was in the net. Don't **** with Pedro.
Think the Plymouth bookings played a big part. Meant we could get at them down the wings in the second half and they couldn't commit. When a big part of your game plan is to put in a crunching tackle and win every ball it nullifies you. Other than that they didn't look like they knew how to get the ball from one end of the pitch to the other. Maybe a hangover from their cup game but they looked a poor side (no surprise, I know given their position but still)
That was as comfortable second half I’ve seen for a while - which is a big thing considering the pressure coming into this game. Thought Puerta, Pedro and Gelhardt were excellent and was impressed with Joseph too. 3 or 4 more and we should be there or thereabouts?
Our back four and midfield were really solid tonight, fantastic to get a comfortable home win, we are staying up.
Fantastic to get that winning feeling. Brilliant second half. Someone with contacts at the club tell them to not start blaring music as soon as the game ends if we win. Completely kills the chance for the fans to show the team support.
We weren't really any better than alright against a shocking Plymouth team. They seemed to have no appetite for the second ball, had a couple of spectators in their midfield, and aside from the last 10 minutes offered absolutely zero going forward. That said, we've played significantly better and lost this season, but given the stakes the points are what was really important tonight.
Agreed with this. I feel like that performance papered over the cracks we all know are there. We were also fortunate with both goals, but you have to be in it to win it, and tonight we made those runs, more frequently made the right passes to the runners, and most importantly managed to get some shots off - even speculative ones, hence our first goal. The vital thing right now though, despite what I've said above is simply getting the 3 points. I don't care how we get them, providing we get them. Wasn't the best performance overall, but but did enough to win, at home, deservedly.
First half was scrapy second much better but the effort for the full 90 odd minutes was top notch Im going to bed much happier tonight
We’ve played lots of poor sides and not put them away. So credit to the lads. We have enough to stay up but injuries have totally derailed our season. Puerta was excellent again, he rarely has a poor game no idea why he wasn’t in earlier, he’s our best midfielder. Jones was also very good tonight.
Hull City head coach Ruben Selles told BBC Radio Humberside: "We looked to perform in the proper way and we did the things we wanted to do in the game today. "One of the key things was to be brave, to get the tempo high and I am pleased everyone got on board. "I was not worried about the first 45 minutes - you cannot expect teams in our position right now to be perfect. I expected the game they prepared for us, but we controlled the game. "The early goal in the second half helped. When you score the first goal it is massive. It gave us more space but we had to carry on playing with intensity Olez Olez..."

Can't think of many better lb performances since elder in L1 than tonight tbh, his use of the ball was super, he hardly EVER looks to pass backwards or sideways, nearly always progressive and some of the balls down the line over the defenders head for Joseph to challenge on were exquisite, and they didn't create a single thing down our left, not sure if they even won a corner on that side such was his dominance. OK they were very poor, prob as poor as we've seen at home in a couple of years, but kudos indeed
I was thinking this when their full back booted the ball in frustration and got roundly laughed at, and then again when the "it's a long way to Plymouth when you're ****" chants came out. It's not a fair world when they have to watch their side get battered every week while Leeds and Sheff Utd's horrid fans get to watch their teams run up a cricket score every week.
Expected a bit more from them...Seems as if running after Man Citeh players emptied their tanks...Still the old adage that you can only beat what's in front of you is alive and well tonight..
He just looks a proper player. He’s played upfront, both wings, left back then today in midfield. Just reminds me of the best player at junior school, and trying to work out where he is most needed.
