Good Morning. It's Tuesday 4th March, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Ramdale top Summer target gathering pace Leeds United are reportedly targeting Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale as they seek to strengthen their squad this summer. Rumours have surfaced linking the Whites with the England international, with multiple media outlets now adding fuel to the fire. While Illan Meslier remains Leeds' current number one, speculation suggests the club are looking for increased competition or a potential upgrade between the posts. Ramsdale, known for his shot-stopping ability and Premier League experience, could be a strong addition. Ramsdale, who made a £25 million move to Southampton from Arsenal just last summer, finds himself in a precarious situation as the Saints teeter on the brink of relegation. This relegation could trigger a clause in his contract making him available for a cut price move, and Leeds appear keen to capitalize. The question remains whether Ramsdale, despite his Premier League pedigree, can provide the level of stability and game-changing performances Leeds would require to solidify their top flight status next season. please log in to view this image History suggest top flight return for Leeds Leeds United are in a commanding position to secure a Premier League return, and history suggests they are well on track. Looking back, Leeds 2019/20 promotion season under Bielsa offers a compelling, albeit surprising precedent. That year, Leeds stormed to the Championship title, accumulating an impressive 93 points. This provides a valuable historical marker for our current campaign, and the signs are incredibly encouraging for the Elland Road faithful. Remarkably, Leeds' current performance under Farke is actually surpassing their promotion-winning season under the 'great one'. After the same number of games played in 2019/20, Leeds had amassed 65 points. This season, however, they are already sitting on a healthy 76 points – a significant 11-point improvement. It suggests that Farke's Leeds are operating at an even higher level of consistency and effectiveness than the Bielsa team at the same point in their successful promotion campaign. While football is unpredictable and the Championship is notoriously competitive, this historical parallel paints an undeniably bright picture for Leeds United's Premier League aspirations. please log in to view this image Auf Wiedersehen Kristensen Leeds defender Rasmus Kristensen is poised to make his loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt permanent, with the clubs agreeing on a revised transfer fee, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg. The Danish international, who joined Frankfurt on loan last summer, has seemingly impressed enough during his Bundesliga stint to warrant a permanent stay. While Frankfurt initially held an option to buy Kristensen for a potential £9.9 million, negotiations between the two clubs have resulted in a significantly reduced fee. Plettenberg reports that Leeds and Frankfurt have now shaken hands on a deal worth £4.9 million. This represents a substantial decrease from the initial buy option, but the final figure could climb to £6.6 million should certain performance-related bonuses be met. Despite the agreed terms, fans will need to remain patient as the official announcement is expected to be delayed for a few weeks. This likely allows both clubs to finalize paperwork and administrative procedures behind the scenes. Kristensen’s move marks the end of his Leeds United career after just one season at Elland Road. Signed in the summer of 2022, the right-back featured regularly for the Whites but couldn't prevent their relegation from the Premier League. The permanent transfer to Frankfurt offers Kristensen stability and a continued opportunity to play top-flight football in Germany's Bundesliga. For Leeds, securing a fee for Kristensen, even a reduced one, is a positive step as they continue to reshape their squad following their Championship promotion push. It allows the club to recoup some of the initial investment made in the player and further streamline their finances. Eintracht Frankfurt, on the other hand, will be delighted to secure a player who already knows the club and the league for a fee lower than initially anticipated. Kristensen's experience and versatility will be valuable assets as they look to build upon their Bundesliga campaign and potentially compete in European competitions next season. The coming weeks will be key for the official confirmation, but all signs point towards Rasmus Kristensen becoming a permanent member of the Eintracht Frankfurt squad, bringing an end to his chapter with Leeds United. please log in to view this image
Teeter on the brink of relegation I've got a garden shed to get rid of ell could you negotiate an optimistic £500,000 with your sunny outlook for the saints .... they're going daaaarrrrnnnn as sure as eggs are eggs
Great work to get any fee or Rasmus. Thought he was useless or us. Ramdale would be a great idea, the saints have only conceded 68 goals so ar this season Why can't we swap Harrison with Everton for their keeper. He keeps them up every season
Morning all I rated Ramsdale a season or so back, I'm not sure how good he is as it's hard to judge in that Southampton team. Good keepers are in short supply, Meslier is a huge confidence player so Farke and Leeds need to play down a keeper search until promotion is nailed. I just don't get how we get screwed over with these re-negotiating fee's, if we get PL money tell them to do one, I am sure there will be another buyer out there. He isn't my main concern, Harrison is, I don't want him back under any circumstances, I would rather us give him away Farke has a better team than Bielsa had so we shouldn't be surprised.
Well said. Once we are secure in the top flight everything change. We are suddenly in the best league in the World, and the likes of Betis, Roma and Frankfurt become insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Part of the reason why I would like Red Bull to take over at Leeds is because of the lure of the top flight. Everyone else becomes our feeder club!
I’d hardly call those clubs insignificant tbf. And as it stands we’re still second tier. So we’re currently a mere saucepan in the kitchen of society.
What I'm saying is the hunt become the hunted. Suddenly they will be on the defensive not wanting their players to go to the Premier League where the streets are paved with tarmac!!!
The Kristensen deal is interesting if true. I read from a normally reliable source that DF really likes him and would opt for him over Bogle in the PL. Admit i was surprised by this... bogle has been a pleasant surprise for me this season and Rasmus was a disappointment previously. Either way, Kristensen is in his prime, has had a great season in Germany... I appreciate we would pay his wages at PL level (assuming we go up) if he came back and was surplus to requirements, but not sure why we would do what looks like a knockdown deal on him?
