Looking for recommendations (or ones to avoid). Might have to move a houseful of furniture from Cottingham to Sussex, don't want to have to be there on the day so hoping for a reliable mover. Has anyone any experience of using local companies? I'd rather they were based in East Yorkshire to make it more straightforward getting a quote.
Used Hardakers in 2023. You pay in advance and lose the lot if your deal doesn't go through on the day you have booked them for, which happened to me. Of course you don't know your sale isn't going to go through until the day before. Up to then they had been great, delivering loads of flat pack packing boxes and packing tape in advance. Then mid day on the original planned moving day the deal was suddenly back on, IF, we could get a removal firm booked again. Hardakers who had been stoney faced the night before in telling me I'd lost the money I had paid because they had to lay the lads and vans off ( give them the day off) suddenly turned full circle and pulled all the stops out, if I agreed to give the lads a decent tip, £100 was suggested, which wasn't that bad because three removal vans turned up and an army of men within the hour. The vans appeared on my drive just minutes after I put the the phone down to the solicitor trying to unravel if we were to be moving or not that day! So from a nightmare situation the night before which stretched into mid morning, when we had actually started unpacking, Hardakers turned into lifesavers and were very good.
Nobody has mentioned Selles... (Olez Olez...) https://www.sellesremovals.co.uk/ No idea how good they are...
Think I used them about 5 years ago , I did more lifting than one of the guys he was built like Peter Kay and had a bad back !!! And they can with a van that was too small !!
I’ve used Tonks (based in Brid) several times & they have always been professional & reliable, faultless service
