Pot calling Kettle black, are you saying your opinions are not based on the propaganda that you have listened to?
What we didn’t need is the UN, US and NATO causing a lot of this situation to begin with. Here is a clip from before the war where they explain live TV how they are influencing Russian and Ukrainian politics: https://x.com/defiyantlyfree/status/1896413037944578421?s=46 The left and the Globalists are extremely happy to pretend like they played no part in this now; but actually this was the intended outcome from 2014
I am aware that there is heavy propaganda from most sides, but most people on here seem to think the only propaganda comes from Putin/trump and ignore the endless guff from the other side
Joe Rogan again. Where Os gets all his political capital. Joe Rogan watching an entertainment show is the basis for his knowledge.
Just to correct, it is the reverse of the bold. The Thatcher years denationalised most of those things - energy, rail, telecoms etc. By busting the unions and denationalising British Steel, essentially a lot of British engineering that wasn't extremely high end (which we are still incredible at in this country) was decimated. There's a degree of irony here because I would guess that a lot of us here that you refer to as 'lefties' (I'm not a lefty despite the label being flung my way) would be in favour of re-nationalising if there was a way. The issue is that we have become use to standard of living and to an extent that is built on borrowing that keeps taxes relatively low. And please don't flippantly say that you would use the nukes. You are better than that. While I do see your point about de-militarisation, it's not entirely accurate. The bigger picture is about using NATO as an alliance to be the protector. Obviously as the major economic power, the USA is the largest partner. Foreign policy for decades was to dominate militarily and culturally in no small part to stop the spread of communism.
I would never flippantly suggest using nukes, I am not sure where you got that from. Everything I post is my view on how to stop that eventuality from occurring. I agree with most of your post here, especially the last part. The attempt to dominate culturally and militarily was extremely successful - arguably too successful in that the rest of the West has become so reliant on American taxpayer’s money. I think their new-found self interest is largely logical. It’s fair that they question why they are spending trillions more to defend Europe, than Europe does itself. They just miss the earlier context that the reason for this is largely because America wanted this to happen. I also understand why Putin sees NATO as an aggressor, especially in recent years. I think it’s completely disingenuous when people pretend that nato are innocent
Struggling to see your problem here - so the US encouraged Ukraine not to be a vassal state to Russia, despite a $15bn bribe from Putin to his lackey that was president at the time? How is that a shock? Honestly Os, if I thought you would keep to it, I'd 100% pay for a 3 (6, 12, whatever) month subscription to The Times (properly well resourced journalism, with opinion and comment pieces that you may agree with or disagree with, but made by people who have a clue about things like history and politics) if you committed to not going on to Twitter for those three months. It would do you the world of good. That Insurrection Barbie character (one of Musk's favourites, as you know) is an absolute cesspool of lies. You're being radicalised by being on there, the algorithm has got you well hooked in its poisonous claws. It's a genuine offer though, because it's horrible to see this play out.
Noted on the Oscar coverage, Anora won several awards, it's about someone standing up against a strong Russian!
We may be victims of internet forum here where you get the joke, but I was flippantly comparing Anora with Rocky IV as both involve standing up against a strong Russian.
It says something that this morning on Radio 4 they were questioning whether we should still be intelligence sharing with a potentially compromised state. The USA.
I think that King Charles should go on a State visit to Canada, and Mexico, then sign and hand-deliver an invoice for the tea spilt into Boston Harbour, plus interest. That should wind Trump up...
