    He's not human he's a superhero :emoticon-0148-yes: <laugh>

Been a great season mate. I still think we'll go up. If we don't we'll pìss it next season like after the Charlton play offs under Reidy.

No complaints from me this season.
Players have given their all. Can't ask for more fom them. Been great to watch.

Tell ya what, just watching the highlights on sky and I didn’t realise at the time how good that run was from Mayenda for the second was. Knows exactly where he wants to peel off as soon as Hume gets the ball and fair play to Hume puts it on a plate for him.

Gets said a lot that he's a limited player but how many footballers, never mind CBs can spray the ball about two footed like he does with that level of accuracy. He's a very talented lad.

I remember his first games, it was obvious to me that he was trying too hard and that's why he was playing poorly but I'm not surprised he was beating himself up about it pretty badly. I think a lot of people are their own worst critic.

It's impressive to me how at the age of 30 he's still learning and improving as a CB. You can see the determination to cut mistakes out and lead by example, nobody is perfect and everyone cocks up occasionally but his attitude is exemplary.

There's only 2 more games for him to get through without a booking mate. After that, the ban only comes after 15 yellows.
So, if he can avoid a yellow in the next 2, he could pick up 5 in the remaining 11 (including Play Off Semis) and still not be banned.

He is, and granted there are defensive attributes he's had to work on, or don't come naturally to him having spent most of his career at right back, or further up the pitch.

What you do get is a central defender who can do things others can't, or not as well that play in the same position, because of where he's played before. That's not just in our squad, but a across the whole league and beyond.

Just watched the extended highlights, full of positiveity about them, very negative about us. Is it a mag who writes the script for these clowns?

Eliezer Mayenda on Sunderland striker battle & promotion race

    upload_2025-3-2_9-18-44.jpeg

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/24974450.eliezer-mayenda-sunderland-striker-battle-promotion-race/

ELIEZER Mayenda would love to have started more games for Sunderland this season but has never been tempted to knock on Regis Le Bris' door and question the head coach.

Instead, Mayenda is happy to try and do his talking on the pitch, as he did at Hillsborough on Wednesday night when he scored a double to fire the Black Cats back to winning ways.

Mayenda has started just 16 Championship games this season but has still been a hugely important figure, featuring in 27 of Sunderland's 35 league fixtures.

He got his chance from the off on Friday after Le Bris decided to rest first choice striker Wilson Isidor.

But if Sunderland's top scorer is recalled for next Saturday's visit of Cardiff City, Mayenda will understand.

“The gaffer is the boss, he decides in every game who plays," said the striker.

"For me, it's all right. I will try to give 100% of my quality in every game.

“The gaffer is the boss and he knows what is best for the team."

Asked whether he was frustrated not to have started more games, Mayenda said: “Frustration is maybe not really the good word to explain that. But I think every player wants to play, not just me.

“For the team, the most important thing is to win the game. If I play just 20 minutes or 90 minutes, for me it's the same thing.

“You can stay just a little bit frustrated. I don't think like that. I don't feel like that. I want to help the team in every game.

"If I start on the bench, it's not all right, but it's football. The gaffer is the boss. If the gaffer thinks for the next game, I will make a bigger impact on the bench, just let's do it."

Mayenda featured in just eight Championship games in his first season on Wearside, before joining Hibs last January for what turned out to be a difficult loan spell.

But he was always confident he could flourish in the second tier given time.

“Everybody knows that the Championship is not an easy league," he said.

"Some players need a little bit of adaptation, a little bit of time to adapt to the league. It's just a physical league.

"I'm a Spanish guy. If you compare it to Spain, Spain is a little bit more technical, but I can play in the Championship. I try to show that I can play in this league in every game.

"I work every day on the training ground. I'm very happy to score, I will be trying to score in the next games, if possible."

And he'll continue to try and put a smile on the faces of the fans who have blown the striker away with their support.

“The supporters of Sunderland are, for me, the best in the Championship," he said.

"Just to make the connection with the supporters is very important for me. To feel the love of the supporters. The supporters show me the love in every game, every day."

Sheffield United's win at QPR on Saturday means Sunderland are eight points adrift of the automatic promotion places, but Mayenda says the Black Cats players are still confident this season can end in promotion, whether it comes via a top two finish or through the play-offs.

He said: "I'm confident. Everybody's confident in the team. I think the fans too.

"We need to fight in every game to stay in a good team spirit and to believe. The most important thing is to believe in ourselves and keep pushing, keep pushing, keep pushing. We will see. But we have a really good team."

No offence to anyone, honestly, but some people on social media should think about this before blasting out posts in the heat of the moment …

… "For me, it's all right. I will try to give 100% of my quality in every game.

“The gaffer is the boss and he knows what is best for the team."

We have our own opinions and all want this signing or that signing, subs at different times, various players started/dropped/given minutes/etc and this tactic tried or that one abandoned …

… but they’re just opinions based on a fraction of the facts.

If the club are happy to sign a player carrying an injury or have an exciting signing sitting on the bench we have to trust the club in my opinion. It’s their heads on the block and, in stark reality, none of our business.

Paying £30 to go to the match doesn’t buy us the right to all of our wishes, expectations or demands.

That's the world we love in. Filled with a whole bunch of clueless bastards who knows better than the people who do it and who have been doing it decades.

Experience is nothing when you've got an entirely unreasonable opinion.

This squad is a as close to "all for one and one for all" as I have ever seen on a football pitch and Jobe is a huge part of it, Giving his understudies some minutes from the off in the next two games would make sense to me. Just my opinion based purely on observation of course, .

Like it or not expressing an opinion is perfectly legitimate on a forum, its really what they are all about. <ok> .

Quite right, unless it's an opinion posted as a fact without any evidence or source ...

... such as claiming Speakman is a conman, the manager has grudges against players or that KLD is 'milking the club'.
